Camera Door

What can I do to get my rear view camera to pop out? I think that the camera still works because I have removed the handle/camera from the car and with the power to the doors electric motor disconnected I get a black screen rather than no screen at all. The camera door will not open when put into reverse so has the motor failed or have I got a broken wire in the loom somewhere? Is it likely to be a physical problem rather than software?

Do you have 360 cameras? Try pressing it to force the view.

No, just reverse only.

Is the screen black on all functions, or just on reverse? Maybe you can try accessing the camera menu and see if the auto reverse camera function was turned off. It even allows you to open it through the vehicle menu if you need to clean the lens.

Thanks, but the problem that I've got is the door not opening. The black screen is caused by the camera viewing the inside of the door so I'm happy that the camera is producing video. When I examined the camera mechanism I could see that there is an electric motor next to the camera which operates the door. Unfortunately it's a sealed unit so it's none user serviceable and I can't remove the motor manually. I don't know if there is power going to the motor, whether the motor has failed or it's not receiving a signal from reverse gear telling it to open. From what I can see of the door mechanism it looks to be okay. Any thoughts?

Sorry, I just need some clarification on your answer. So, did you try accessing the camera functions through the vehicle menu (not the reverse gear selector), and it still doesn’t open?

Yes, I've been through the system settings to open the cover for cleaning etc but it doesn't work.
