Hood Emblem Doesn’t Quite Sit Flush
Hi guys, I decided to get the standing Mercedes front hood emblem for my w205 C300 and I personally am in love with how it looks.
Its the right part for my car looked up by VIN, but it doesn’t quite sit all the way flush? There’s a little space in the back (seen in second photo) that just won’t sit flush.
The emblem itself is locked right as hell in the hole opening. Just curious if anyone has had this issue before? Will it really make that much of a difference if it rains and a bit comes in?
thanks guys!

I recommend you remove this standing classic emblem. You have this beautiful sporty diamond grill. This standing emblem looks so weird on your car. If you insist on placing it you need to make sure its for w205. I have seen these standing emblem on non sport cars. Maybe they only can be placed on the standard classic version of the w205.

I went back to the parts counter today and tried a different model number for the standing ornament and it seemed to fit the emblem crater much better but not quite perfect, which is fine with me as long as it wasn't so off settled as it was before.
In the future if anyone searching would ever need it, the ornament part number that fit my car the best (2015 C300 4MATIC) would be A221-880-00-86. The other standing star I tried prior was A222-810-12-00. The new one just purchased has a larger base diameter, closer to the flush hood emblem that came with my vehicle.

Great thanks for the feedback. Check this out the biggest hood ornament you might see 😁

100%. Ignore what others say, especially when you're looking for install tips and not opinions.
What's interesting is that according to my M-B EPC 2228101200 is the correct part number for your car. Glad you found one that fit and that you enjoy looking out over that three point star. It was one of the things I missed moving from my E-classes to my newer cars since it's been on all my and my dad's cars prior to that for almost fifty years.

As usual comments full of rudeness and ignorance. PlasticDad no one put a gun and no one forced his opinion on the OP or disrespected him. As you can read neither myself or diamondsilver forced his opinion. We respected the OP preference and guided him to specially look into W205 Avantgarde non sport version. The OP respectfully replied and was quite friendly unlike you always aggressive and rude.

Hope all this arguing is in a good, friendly manner. It would take a lot to upset me but even in the meanest of comments, you can sometimes find helpful insight that you wouldn’t have known before.
(As a heads up I am not referring to any comments or any users in this thread. Being new to MBWorld I’ve seen a lot of potentially hurtful things being said, which is inevitable but disappointing.)
Regardless of others, I’m glad with everything going on in the world we’re all still rocking our love for Mercedes 👍

Follow Up
This is a great thread! I am going through this RIGHT NOW. My M-B service had ordered the same B.S. hood ornament that doesn’t sit flush on the hood. They proceeded to “tell me” that it was acceptable. Same part number based off of the VIN (2020 C300 / W205).
It is driving me mad. The second item you had ordered: you stated it fits “better,” but not totally flushed. There HAS to be another item number that WILL sit flush. I refuse to believe there isn’t.
How did you go about determining the second item number? Random guess? How do we find a third item number that will sit flush? Not kind of, but completely flushed, as intended.
Please elaborate, and help me find this third item number that WILL sit flushed on the hood. Very much appreciated. Under time constraints to find it ASAP. Thank you.
