My car has this WiFi hotspot but what is it used for? I connect to it and nothing happens. What's the purpose of this? I suppose if Canada had a data plan for the car, it would allow sharing the data to occupants in the car?!

I wish it maintained the feature my previous Merc had which allowed to connect to a WiFi hotspot. I think that's better use of WiFi so I can connect wirelessly to play TuneIn or something... oh but that doesn't work too.

You can connect to a wifi hotspot on your phone. Then use the data connection to access the MB Apps which includes TuneIn...

My menu option doesn't have a way to connect to my WiFi hotspot on my phone, unless I'm totally missing it.

Hot spot, that's stretching it a bit. When you do manage to get connected it's slower than the dial up internet of the 90's.

You're using bluetooth tethering to use the wifi on your phone (not the in-car hotspot, which is fairly useless).
