Reset "Windshield Wiper Malfunction" Alert
Anyone know how to clear this? I had my car detailed and they removed my MB folder, manual etc., forgot to put them back in the car and have not yet returned them.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's not an actual malfunction, it was raining the other day and when I turned off the ignition the wipers stopped in the upright position, so I restarted the car and let them go down and then turned the ignition off again and it started showing the alert after that.

1. Did the Dealer detail your MB - or was it a Detail shop ?
2. That type of error is quite "rare" - I have seen it once when a owner drove into a drive-thru car wash - had the wipers on "rain sensor" - and when the wipers got caught in the wash brushes it kinda whacked out the arms (not visibly) but the tension and position on the wipers got whacked out a bit - so my shop needed to reset the springs/tension on the wipers and reset the code (which we did gratis).

Went to the dealership this morning, apparently the wiper motor is going out...odd as I've had no issues with them and have barely used the wipers in the year that I've owned the car.

"Going out" is such a vague term. I wonder how (or if) they actually determine this. A sealed bearing motor should easily last the life of the car. If the error is triggered by the computer detecting unusually high current draw from the motor (my guess), then I wonder if they even considered that maybe the linkages to the wiper arms just need to be lubricated?
