Panoramic sunroof won't close

Hey guys!
My roof was fine until yesterday, I use it quite often, usually in the tilted position. I wanted to clean the seams since it was full of stuff from a tree I parked under so I opened it all the way, but then when I tried to close it it made a very worrying sound and wouldn't close all the way
I made a short video
The thingy on the driver's side is clearly not closing like it's supposed to, I checked and there's nothing jammed in the mechanizm. Is there anything I can do except take it to a dealer? Anyone had a similar thing, what (=how expensive) can it be?

A lot of threads on this if you search. About $2000-3000 fix. This is the exact reason I’ve never opened my pano roof lol

No more MB:(
205's are notorious for this issue. 2K+. Take it to the dealer.

Seriously? I just managed to get it closed to the sound of motor gears dying. I wanted to try to open it again to see if it fixed itself somehow but looks like I'm never opening it again!!

I just had to close one for a customer. But first I took off the glass to see exactly why it was doing that. there is a small lock release that breaks and that is why tthe driver's side rear arm doesn't go forward. I still have not given the customer an estimate to fix as he was so happy that we closed it..... he just decided to wait.

What would you quote them for? I'm looking for a local sunroof repair shop that would take this car, since it's already out of warranty I don't think I have to pay the dealer's extra. And do you think it's fixable at home? I already looked at a few videos the sunroof disassembly seems easy enough but there's a teaching procedure later that requires star diagnosis computer and all I have is a cheap bluetooth obd scanner

I've had this problem a year ago and I brought it to a shop to see what they can do, and they ultimately got it to close, but they recommended bringing it to a dealer to have the sunroof functioning again. As everyone has stated, it is 2k+, but luckily the previous owner still had extended warranty at the time and that was used for me.

It's not a W205 issue it's a Webasto issue. They make the panoramic roofs for all Mercedes and they've been buggy on all models for years. Owning one after warranty is not fun.

What ended up happening for this one?

I fixed mine at a Mercedes dealer, they explained they are some plastic rails broken on passenger side, so I had them replaced on both sides. They claimed according to their repair manual they should also replace both electronic control modules to which I said no since they were $500 each.
In total I paid $1400 for the repair, $500 in parts, $800 in labor and $100 for the diagnostic.

Just had an issue with my sunroof not closing and was really worried after reading. I do have the CPO warranty and was prepared for a fight, but they repaired under warranty without question. Just picked up now and see on the paperwork they replaced the left pano rail. Maybe MB finally did decide to cover, or is my dealer just good? Im guessing this would have been 2k+ based on $230 labor rate and amount of work required so I'm definitely happy.

Mine broke couple months out of warranty Had it still been under warranty I'm sure the dealer would repair it at no cost since they told me it was a common issue, and I was the first one to actually pay to have it repaired out of warranty, usually people just don't use it anymore
