Knocking Noise Wiggling Steering Wheel
Is this noise normal or does it sound like somethings loose? This is with the car off wiggling the steering wheel back and forth you can hear a knocking noise from the front of the car. Would be curious if someone tried this on their w205 if it made the same noise?

Tie rods worn out. Had same on my BMW 535i at around 70k miles. How many miles on yours?

That makes no sense I only have 19k miles. You don't hear any unusual noises while driving.

Well, you may have to go under your car an look around. Have somebody move the steering wheel and if you just touch the suspension parts you should be able to locate the noise.

Was hoping that was a normal sound but guess it's not? Would be nice if someone did the same thing to their w205 and see if it made any noises.

I have 2017 C300 with 22K miles and it has tiny bit of knock. If yours is a 10 mine is 1 or less. Keep us posted of the noise and fix.

Thanks for checking. I wonder if it has to do with that time I picked my car up from the dealer to find the front tire was completely flat and rim bent....

I had the opportunity to listen to a CTS and it made the same type of noise, possibly slightly quieter. I'm wondering if it would be considered normal. It would be nice to hear a couple different c300's to get an idea of what is normal and what isn't.

May also be worth mentioning this sound is only heard when the ignition is off and no power steering, when power steering is activated it doesn't make the noise.

There was a recall on some US W205 for a steering coupling. They were mounted incorrectly.
might be worth googling it and checking your model

All recalls for my car should be taken car of. At this point I'm mostly wondering if this is a normal noise when the ignition is off and you wiggle the steering wheel back and forth very quickly.

I mean I could make a trip to a dealer and randomly ask if I can wiggle some steering wheels but that might be weird 😂

I have 10k and makes the same noise after bit of resistance. On japanese cars, most steering wheel have locks. But w205 don't have any lock and purely uses power steering to disable the steering wheel when car is off. I can bet you if you can lift bro, you can move the wheels by forcing the steering wheel to turn.

Lol it wasn't a question of being able to turn the wheel w/o power steering I was just focused on whether that noise it makes when wiggling back and forth was normal since it was surprisingly loud. But again as soon as power steering is on it doesn't make such noises. Nice to hear you had the same noise it's sounding more and more like it is in fact normal.
