You're wanting to install ambient lighting in the w205?

Where did you purchase your ambient lighting kit?

I recently installed ambient lighting on my 2016 C450, mine was plug and play and didn't need any special wiring to the fuse box or anything.

Is yours connected to OBD and works via steering wheel or did you have to unlock the original ambient light menu?
If the latter can you let me know where it was connected? I'm waiting for mine to turn up and just want to get ahead on the installation.

Mine was an OEM style retrofit where the ambient lighting option needs to be enabled on the radio menu. So no OBD connection like you see in the kit sold on the DMP website.

I bought the 64 color retrofit from a seller in China through Facebook. He provided several videos showing how it's connected. Each of the 4 door LED harness/control box plugs into two of the connectors on the small white box below the tweeter. The box has several labeled plugs on it and it connects via a Y-splitter. So it's essentially tapping into the connector already there.

For the center console lighting and the footwell lights, these lights get their power from the drivers side door wire harness included in the kit. So the drivers side door harness has an extra connector to split off to the center console/footwell lighting. In order to route the wire from the drivers door to inside the cabin it required terminating wires into the door jam plug using any of the empty spots available. On my kit everything was already set to go, didn't need anything except patience and the tools to get the job done.
