New Battery
I would just replace the battery, I replaced mine with Varta F21 which I believe is the equivalent to OEM or at least as good as from what I can remember when I was researching it.
A battery that doesn't hold its charge (voltage) can cause really weird problems on our cars so it's simply not worth it not replacing it.

1. That message comes up "most of the time" based on low voltage of the "2nd battery" - which is a storage capacitor actually.
2. A competent MB shop would "stress test" the main battery 1st - then test that storage capacitor
I replaced the battery with one from Batteries Plus for $180, the message went away and after a couple of trips the eco start/stop started working.
Just an FYI, like I mentioned, I drove the car a lot with the message on. Idling never caused the message to go away. I drove it on a 4 hour round trip and the message went away for a couple of weeks. It also went away for a period of time after charging.
If you don't replace it you are just putting off the inevitable, these cars have a very high current demand on the battery and components that don't get full power start to act up, like the stop/start function.

I just got my original battery with 59k miles (95k km) on my 2014 model replaced with an OEM Varta one after having ignored the warning messages for 2 years and driven for more than 16k miles since the warning first popped up. This car hasn't been driven much but in the last couple of month I had to call roadside assistance three times to jump start it, so it was about time.
