I am looking to buy a Mercedes c300 2016, 2017, or 2018, but I am worried about how long it will last with the mileage. Most of the ones I can find within my budget already have 30k-40k miles on it already. I want it to last several years, but I am concerned about the reliability of a used Mercedes. How many miles has anyone's c-class lasted without having any serious problems?

Any cars can last when treated with regular maintenance. Mind you, benz costs more then regular. Have look at the manual and see if you can follow all the maintenance schedule. Call you local dealer and see what the prices are for A B C 1 2 3 plans. Brake, oil, transmission fluid changes to get an idea.
If you are one of those people who don't want to be bothered, grab a $10k disposable car like nissan or toyota and use it for few years and take it to the junkyard.

I have a 2015 C300 with 100k miles and it still runs fairly well. It is built well and feels solid still. Maintainance is more expensive than other cars but if you can find a good mechanic or independent german shop it can be manageable. OEM Mercedes parts and the recommended fluids tend to be more expensive but following the maintenance schedule it can prevent bigger problems. The unexpected breakdowns/issues are more problematic because not all shops can fix them and you often need Mercedes dealer parts. Modern Mercedes are also heavily computerized and have a lot of electronics so you often need a repair shop with the proper diagnostics tools. Repairs can easily run $1k-2k to fix especially if you need to go to the dealer, so you have to be prepared for that. The run-flat tire can also be expensive when they need replacement.

30 to 40,000 miles is nothing, I would be very disappointed if a modern day MB didn't do well over 150,000 miles

If you can find a V6 C-Class in your budget, get that engine. It's known to be among the most, or the most, reliable of Mercedes engines in the past 10 years. V8s have problems (not a factor for C-Class except C63) and the 4 cylinder is known to have a broken piston problem.

Have you ever noticed how few high-mileage modern MBs you see compared to other brands? Same for BMW. I asked the service manager at my dealer and he said they get sold because the cost of maintenance is so high. Porsche seems to be an exception. Originally Posted by AyJayDee

Except the M272 engine (E350, C350) and the balance-shaft debacle which required an engine-pull to repair and ended in a huge class-action lawsuit. I had one in my E350 go bad...$5,500 repair. Originally Posted by chassis

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Explore2015 C200 AMG line 56 K miles. Touch wood I only changed oil, filters، main battery, and auxiliary battery. Fixed the roof track once due to a small stone. I maintained at my local dealer. I really can't complain about my car it has been reliable.
Your other option is StockBmw's good advise is to grap a diposable car like Corrola 🤣😂

Nope. W204. Just commenting on the post that not only were there bad 4 and 8 cylinder engines like he posted...there was a bad 6 cylinder. W205s just had the wrist-pin issues in 2015 which required an expensive engine rebuild. Originally Posted by chassis

I am not sure about that. My car is a 2015 am on 56 K miles or 90 k kms. I never had this issue or any other issues really. I am a member of a local MB club we share issues and discuss solutions. I never heard of wrist pin problems. Most of the complaits are about cracks and noises coming from the headrest. Maybe this wrist pin issue is related to the place of manufacture or engine type? as most of the cars here are German built C200 and C300? I really can't tell.Originally Posted by irondad

Two...just because your one car doesn't have an issue doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Your little Lebanese club, again, is not a reliable resource. It's all anecdotal.

A Google search doesn't quantify the problem either.Originally Posted by irondad

Nor does this issue matter if the OP is looking for a 2016+ model. Andy 74 also seems to have a different version of the engine in his C200 so it doesn't seem to far fetched that he or his club members are not experiencing the problem...

It's evidence of it. Andy's logic is "I don't have it and my friends don't so it doesn't exist". No one questioned his personal experience...just the logical fallacy. Your 2016 comment is a red herring. I was commenting that there was a bad 6 cylinder in addition to the 4s and 8s the poster I replied to. Context. Originally Posted by Wolfman

A red herring? The OP specifically asked for a C300 2016+ models. You not only provided irrelevant information that doesn't pertain to the OP's question which only serves to create doubt or concerns for this new member.Originally Posted by irondad

"I am concerned about the reliability of a used Mercedes. How many miles has anyone's c-class lasted without having any serious problems?"
My current C class: less than a year old, 36 days in service.
My previous E class: $3,800 pano roof repair just out of warranty.
E class before that: $4,500 (I think) transmission conductor plate just out of warranty.
E class before that: $5,500 engine pull for balance shaft, just out of warranty.
E class before that: transmission failed right out of warranty... fought Mercedes and they covered it.
My 80s and 90s cars before these: bulletproof

Sorry you are wrong again. I never said that this issue does not exist. I am saying let us not make a rule out it. I didn't and the 600 cars in my club didn't. All what am saying is that not every 2015 W205 on this planet was born with a wrist pin issue. As Wolfman correctly mentioned the OP is asking about 2016+ cars so let us stay in this context.Originally Posted by irondad

Correct, I never had it and I never heard of it in my club. So maybe because these cars are German built? Maybe its an issue in the States for the 2015 C300? I am not saying it doesn't exist I am saying its a not a correct to say that ALL 2015 W205 cars have wrist pin issue. Nevertheless, why are you mentioning it, OP is asking for 2016+ so let us help him in this context.Originally Posted by irondad
