What are the risks of converting a 4MATIC Car to a Rear Wheel Drive One?
Hello Motorheads, my father bought a W205 Mercedes Benz C300 4Matic 2015 model.
He wants to convert it into a rear wheel drive car. What are the risks of converting a 4MATIC car into a rear wheel drive one.
Also what are some precautions he should take while completing the procedure? Is it worth it if I live in a sunny climate?
Will the car operate in the same manner as a unconverted C300 model.
My father sells Mercedes Benz Auto Parts thus all the parts needed for the conversion are present.

I think your father would be better off selling the 4matic and just buying a rear wheel drive car. He's already paid extra for the 4matic set-up. In addition, it would be an enormous amount of work and of computer reprogramming to successfully make the conversion.

4matic system is quite complicated with lot of computer systems involved. Quite risky to mess up with it you might end up with other issues. I really dont think it is worth it. 4Matic are more expensive than a 2 wheel drive. 4matic cars have better grip better handling. What is the reason behind this conversion?

You can't convert your 4Matic to rear wheel drive since the front wheels are connected to a center bearing and gear. It's not like a Lamborghini where the shaft is setting to the side of the transmission.
