Road Top Carplay - real life reviews please
see the thing is I don’t want to connect to the MB Bluetooth. Just want it to reliability connect to Bluetooth each time.

As far as sound quality, I was very disappointed initially until I went into the unit's audio settings. I noticed in the Loudness option was set to a particular setting. I changed that to disabled and immediately I heard a huge improvement in sound quality. I've switched back and forth between using the MB Bluetooth for audio and the Road Top for audio, and to my ears I cannot hear a difference.
Phone calls are an issue. I get a lot of echo when receiving phone calls. I've read people say to use the MB Bluetooth for phone calls and that eliminates the echo, but then you'll have the connectivity issues I talked about previously when using the MB Bluetooth.
Connectivity has been a bit spotty. Sometimes when I start the vehicle the Carplay screen pops right up and everything works the way it should. Other times, the screen just loads to the audio screen and shows that music is playing. I have to hold down the star button to get the Carplay screen to show. I've also had Carplay not load at all when starting the vehicle and when I check connections on my iphone 13 Pro Max, it will say "Carplay not connected". I have to tap on it and sometimes it will immediately connect, but sometimes it will say "unable to connect" and I have to try it a few times before it connects.
Another issue I have that was mentioned by other members is not being able to have voice directions when using Carplay Maps and an audio source from the MB audio side. Not really too big of a deal because I just use the SXM app in Carplay along with Maps, and you get both audio from SXM and the voice directions.
One other slight complaint is when you hold down the star button to get back into the original MB system, it brings me to the Favorites screen. I then have to press the back button to get to the main screen.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The disconnection issue I was having appears to always happen on the same stretch of road, so it must be interference.
Sucks because I can't find an easy way to connect it again, other than turning the car or the phone off and on.
Also, the unit has completely locked up twice now, which turns off the entire comand unit, screen, and central controls.
So I can't adjust climate control, volume, drive mode, nothing.
First time this happened I had to pull the android unit out and disconnect and reconnect the wires, then put it back. Before that I tried turning the car off and on, parking it overnight and trying again in the morning. Nope still locked up.
Second time it happened, after letting it sit overnight it worked fine in the morning.
I wish there was a way to reset or restart it.
Thanks,
Long pressing the Comand button on the console brings up Siri, just like the Voice Command button on the driving console does. However, when I try to long press when in the Music app to either fast forward or fast reverse a song, Siri comes up and I'm unable to fast forward / etc. Has anyone figured out, or gotten feedback from support, if there is a way to disable Siri activation from long pressing the Comand button and just use the Voice Control button, so that you can do other long press functions in Carplay without activating Siri every time?
Granted, it's a first world problem, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and found a way around it?
Is it possible to keep connected Via BT to OEM handsfree for calls?
