Hello guys I found a great deal on a C300 Hybrid 2015, but now Im not sure if I will buy it as it has like 140,000km on it and it seems that hybrid batterys last like 160,000-300,000km and to replace it seems very costy but how much not sure yet, I contacted a nearby MB dealer and they said it will cost 22,000 to replace that battery which is insane when the amount of the car to buy is near that, I emailed some dealers on germany and one said it cost 14000 and another one 2700 very different pricing, so has anyone had such experiences with such cars and how long did the battery last and how much is the real pricing.

So plus labor that costs much more? I know there isnt much data as I looked but I coudnt find much so thought maybe here somone with similar experience can help me

 

The battery probably costs 2700. It’s seems pretty straight forward. How much does it cost to replace a hybrid battery? However, I think the OP is putting the cart before the horse. It could go another 6 or 7 years.

 

Well thats whats confusing on germany two dealers different prices one 14k the other said refurbished 2.7k but how easy is it to get a refurbished one as I contacted an authoriaed service on my country he said it costs 22k to replace, also the car is like 6 years already so will it really run another 6?

 

Every Hybrid looses 10-20% from the battery after 2-5 years and about 30-40% after 5-10 years.

 

The one quoting you 22k clearly doesn’t want to deal with it.

Well if they dont what can I do? I cant send it over 1000km far to fix it, or they will lower their price ?

 

When a Mercedes Hybrid battery goes bad out of warranty, you scrap the car.

 

Either buy it and take a chance or skip it. These prices I’m hearing make me want to make sure the car is always under warranty.

 

The cost of these large battery packs are insane. Just imagine buying a house for $500K and within 6-10 years if you don't cough-up another $250K, your house stops being a house.

Myself, I'll wait until these batteries are mainstream and the costs decrease substantially before I go anywhere near them.

 

By that logic such car after 200k its worth nothing?

 

Correct. The repairs exceed the value of the car. No different than dropping your cell phone in saltwater.

 

So this has me thinking... when it gets to this point, you should be able to remove the battery and the car should still function on the ICE only, right?

With all the technology tied together on these systems, maybe it would require some form of hack?

 

Well I asked and it runs but not how it supposed like not like before.
I saw people saying their Toyota prius hybrid runs after 300k+ still with the same battery I dont know if Mercedes has same reliability on such things.

Also theres now a few more services who said that replacing with a factory overhaul costs 2800$ but how much is like that as same as new one I dont know.

 

Prius hybrid batteries can be serviced and individual cells replaced.
