rear bumper gap
I bought my 2018 model c63 a few days ago, and I have just found out my rear bumper has a huge gap. I lived in Socal and bought the car from a dealer in San Jose which means it is almost not an option to take the car back to them fixing it and drive back. What should I do in this situation, and if in the worst scenario, I will fix it cost by myself in a local shop, how much will the fix cost. Thank you. Pic attached below.
Without having much information to go by, I can only assume either the bumper has been removed and re-installed or some strong downward force was applied to pull it down. Just guessing. How is the gap along the bottom horizontal edge of the taillight? Do both sides match?
Looking at your picture, it's hard to tell for certain but it almost appears the end of the bumper flange may be bent downwards (circled), like it did not slide into the slot it's supposed to slide into (possibly). I just replaced my rear bumper last week and fortunately I took some pictures so I can share what it looks like behind the bumper and also how the bumper flange looks. My new bumper is an aftermarket bumper, but I'm sure it's pretty close to OEM:
I would suggest looking very closely for signs of prior damage. White is more difficult to see deviations in body panels, but I would get some bright or contrasting light across the rear of the car and look at all the panels with your eyes at a perpendicular angle to the panels and look for the reflections and shadows to see if you notice anything weird, out-of-shape or wavy.
Since this is a new purchase, if you do find issues, I would suggest contacting the seller to inform them of what you found. Keeping in mind they may not have known about it either. You may be able to tell just by that conversation if they are trying to hide anything ;p
Best of luck to you!

thank you so much for your analysis, shared information and suggestions.
There is a gap between the upper bumper and the bottom taillight, so I assume the gap is not caused by the unproper re-install. It might be a force applied on the top of the bumper and pushed it downward. Here is the pictures
Right side:
Left side:
besides, I also noticed my right side tail light is cracked and missing a small propotion. I think this damage is caused by the pushing force applied on the bumper delivered to the light and cracked it.
blue circle marks the edge of head light should used to stick closely with the bumper
Anyway, I will contact my dealer at first and see their response.
thank you again, it really helps
