Double Clicking on Remote Control Seems to Save Main Battery Power

Hi guys, I used to close my car by clicking once on the remote control. When i come back to the car say like after 2 days i unlock the car and a stop vehicle turn engine on message pops up on my dashboard basically warning me that the battery power is low. Lately I started clicking twice when closing the car as I heard it shuts down all systems in the car mainly the push start stop function. I noticed that the above message never came back even if leave the car for 3 days.

It’s in my manual. It shuts down the keyless entry, etc. I would suggest you think about a new battery.

Definitely something fishy with the battery, i would get it checked for free at your nearest autozone. I can go for weeks without turning on my car (2015 c300) and it always starts right up instantly, never seen the low battery power message yet.

Your keyless entry is draining your battery! As others mentioned it double clicking disables it.

I believe double clicking turns off the fob, thereby saving the fob battery. It doesn’t turn anything in the car off.

Yes, it just turns the key off, but if the key is normally alive and within some sort of range the car can see, like by your door and the car is outside in the driveway, it could be waking the car up from time to time. Turning the key off, once the car goes fully to sleep after 15-20min, it won't wake up until an active remote signal hits it or the door handles are activated, it won't get the passive ping from the key and start running networks or anything.

But yes, change your battery if it's that weak.

Regardless of car being awake or not, the subtle whirl from your comand shouldn't drain your battery next day.

What is your commuting distance each day? How many times do you drive per week? If you are working from home, best to plug your car to a battery maintainer instead worrying about key fob that never gets seen from my pocket.
