C220D AMG Line Premium 2016
CarPlay Upgrade or Leave well alone?

Hi All,
This is my 1st time owning a Merc and i've gone with a 2016 C220D AMG Line Premium Plus (W205).

I really want 'carplay' and have read several very useful threads, but unfortunately i have also heard from some local 'audio installers' that they would NOT recommend doing this on a W205 2016 model as people often have problems later on with some electrics including immobiliser, windows, etc...

Has anyone had problems generally with the car after installing an after-market replacement Android units? I was thinking of going with the Roadtop version.

Thanking all in advance.

Can we just stick to driving? But l find navi and blind spot monitoring very useful. Leave the "TECH" at home. My 2 cents.

Premium plus means you have the comand online I assume. Means your only option is aftermarket. For me the comand is enough so can't help much with carplay

I know some guys went back to the OEM because the android made white background noise.

I wish I could leave my phone at home. It’s illegal to touch phone even at red light stop in my state, but I couldn’t resist.

You've already asked this in another thread - not sure why you felt the need to ask again . I have the roadtop, its been 100% fine since installation in May. If you are worried about it, don't install one.

I've installed road top car play, everything stays oem, i don't think think it's related to the immobiliser or any other electrical connections, you can turn on the carplay whenever you want and you can go back to the comand screen whenever your want.

It's a little bit glitchy it's not that perfect but it works.

For me i want to to try the android screen and see which one is better.

Agreed Love having the Car Play, but it does have a few glitches. Does not take away from being able to keep your eyes ahead, and all the other associated benefits of having it.
