Auxilary Battery Malfunction - replaced under extended warranty
I have seen this question come up quite a bit. It seems some dealerships try and charge to replace the auxiliary "battery" even with an extended warranty in place (mine was $1,700 added 2-year extension beyond the CPO 1-year extension). My service writer said "it's a battery therefore it's not covered under your extended warranty, it will be $450" I informed him that even though it is called a battery in the error message it's actually a capacitor/voltage regulator and therefore covered as a component of the electrical system. He said he would check, gave me a courtesy car (work took 2 days) and said he'd call when he found out. Sure enough, covered.
Also, they performed the high-pressure fuel line replacement recall while it was there (including steam cleaning engine and undercarriage) and said my main battery failed the test (no surprise, 6 years old) he said they would put in a new battery for $515, I declined lol. AAA came to my house and installed a new battery for $200 - 6 year warranty
