Hello everyone
I have a 2016 c300 with 100k miles . I bought 2yrs ago with 48k miles . Today a piston went out . spark plug was found broken and now compression on that cylinder is 15psi . Mechanic states a new or used engine is required. can any one please advise of other possible solutions .

Sorry to hear! Do you happen to know when the spark plugs were replaced? If they are the original plugs, this may have been a contributing factor to the failure. I'm curious, is this on #1 (the cylinder at the front of the engine)?
The next steps and options depend on if there is damage to the cylinder bore/wall and the extent of it. Also "a piston went out" could mean many things, do you know if it cracked, a hole blew through it, a chunk missing, ring blow-by, etc.? Everyone has their own path and choices, but if this happened to me and there was no scoring of the cylinder bore/wall, I would be working with an independent shop that specializes in Mercedes to have the one bad piston replaced.
