I got mine from DMP Car Design and I recommend them. Great quality and they came with all the proper wire harnesses. I my case, I purchased the complete interior ambient light kit (dash, console, doors, front & rear vents) so my package came with the main controller unit. If you are purchasing the vents only, confirm with the seller that everything needed is included for plug-and-play.

If you plan to install them yourself, it's not difficult at all... I know this is subjective depending upon your skill level, but it's really not complicated. The only special tool you will need is a couple of pulling hooks to pull the far left and far right vents out. Something like this:

Amazon Amazon

Here's an excellent video that walks you through the installation:

You're very welcome! They definitely change the whole feel of the interior. IMO, totally worth it.

Here's a couple of random pics of mine while unboxing, FYI:

Hard to guess. I did mine at the same time I swapped my stock screen to Android, so I'd estimate my clock time for the vents only was about 3-4 hours, keeping in mind I paid close attention to the routing and securement of the wires, and being extra careful not to scratch or damage anything.

For someone doing it for revenue only and without concern of it being their car, I'm sure they can do it much quicker.

Andy74 had his done recently, you may want to ask him how many labor hours they charged him.

Hi there, I am looking at one of these kits and I don't currently have ambient lighting. Can you tell me how these are powered? The only video that I have seen that shows any form of power is Flexx, and he plugged into the ODB port.
For those who have added ambient lights to a car that doesn't already have them (aka stripper model), how are they powered/plugged in?
Thanks

My car also did not come with the Ambient Lighting option from the factory and I don't have the Ambient Lighting menu in my COMAND unit. I bought my complete Ambient Lighting package (center console, passenger dash trim, footwells, under seats, HVAC vents and doors) from DMP Car Design, so I can speak to that.

The center console, passenger dash trim, footwells, under seats, and HVAC vents get their power from the OBD port adaptor. The door lighting get their power from the 12V already in the doors and communicate/sync to the rest of the system through wireless modules in the doors (included in the kit). The brightness and colors for all are controlled using the round combination power mirror switch on the drivers' door.

If you were to purchase the HVAC vents only, I'm not sure how you would control them. Maybe wirelessly through an app? I don't know.

Hope this helps!
