Dull short sound when accelerating
Hi everyone,
i searched the forum already and I’m hoping anyone had a similar experience.
I bought the C300 last year, built 2018 with 7k miles. Shortly after purchase I recognized a sharp dull sound in the rear when I was in full stop and accelerated. Didn’t matter if fast or slow acceleration. It sounds a bit like some dull metal parts coming together or apart. I was guessing the shock setting in, but apparently they are ok.
The sound only appears if I drove more than 30mph, make a full stop and then accelerate again.
i brought it to the dealer (MB) and 4 months later got it back. They changed the differential, the rear bushings and the axle shafts. Sound ist still there…now they told me that is normal due to the force coming on the back axle.
is this sound normal? Does anyone have anything similar?
thanks

First things to my mind are the rear differential, which the dealer says he replaced, and the driveshaft U-joints; a very common source of hard "clunking".
