Mercedes engine light
My Mercedes c class 2017 has been parked up for about two months and my engine light has come on. I have since drove the car till warm and it drives spot in , however the light is still on. Is there any way where I can look within the cars onboard system to find the problem with the car?

You need an OBDII scanner to read out the error codes. Many on the market, including phone apps using a BT or Wi-Fi dongle such as Carista or Carly. It's a good tool to have on hand in general. I see you are in GB, so not sure what the auto parts store situation is over there, but a quick way to get the codes read here in the USA is to stop by places like Autozone and they read out the codes for free.

Is there any way I could diagnose the problem without using an obd scanner before I take it to a garage? I would have thought the cars onboard system would have told me what the fault is related to

A solid CEL largely indicates an emissions related issue. Could be as simple as a loose filler cap and may go away on its own if the condition clears. Put some fresh gas in it.
