W205 clunks when downshifting

Hello all, just bought a 2019 c220d 4matic about two weeks ago and the problem with the car since I got it is that sometimes after accelerating hard (even in comfort mode or sport+) and then braking the transmission clunks when downshifting (not sure but I think gears 3>2). This doesn’t happen all the time just sometimes and it happened once when casually driving and coming to a stop. Mileage is 120k km (75k miles) and I wasn’t able to send it to a mb service to check if transmission fluid was changed or not, but if anyone experienced this issue please explain. Also weird is that the car drops to 1st gear below 10 km/h and as far as I know 9g gearbox only drops to 1st gear after a full stop (drove a 2017 c220 with 9g and it wont drop to 1st gear unless fully stopped, maybe they changed the transmission from the pre-facelift to facelift version).

Definitely need to figure out if the fluid was changed or not, if it wasn't then it might be overdue which might cause your issue.

Seems right to me and going to check it ASAP
what about dropping to 1st gear below 10km/h?
i’ve driven many other mercedes with 7g and 9g tronic and none of them would drop into 1st gear unless you completely stop. I never had the chance to drive a car like mine but I assume that mercedes uses a similar transmission to all the vehicles. Also sometimes the car hesitates to shift in 2nd when applying very light throttle. Other gear changes seems okay and you can barely notice it when not paying too much attention.

I have no experience with diesels used in the W205 but C220d is a small engine so I assume the programming is different to the ones you test driven to help the vehicle move, the gear ratio will certainly be different, the 1st gear might be longer as a result.

Goofy tranny...

The marginal CAN conditions involved with the excellent tranny make it perform poorly.

You're right about recognizing this and not ignoring it.

--> One thing you can easily do for free under 5mn is the Key ON/OFF tranny relearn procedure... search YouTube for video.

-- Another thing is eliminating chassis faults - Get a scanner to see obvious faults stressing networked modules.
