Winter rims/tires? Recommendations?

Hi,

What winter tires/rims do you have? Based in Alberta, Canada and need a set for mine.
Researching already sizes and such, as I have currently the AMG 18'' rims and offset front and rear stock setup.

Trying to look for something similar in size/configuration. However, it seems most don't have the same setup for winters.
What do you have if so? and what works?

Just don't want to purchase something that might give problems with suspension, stability and such if it goes off the recommended tire/rim specs.

I believe I have the AMG 18” 5 spoke (782 code?). This is what it looks like visually.

Front Wheels:

7.5Jx18 ET44 (P/N A20540111007X21)

Rear Wheels:

8.5Jx18 ET49 (P/N A20540112007X21)

Would love to know what you have right now in terms of winter rim size and tires.

Kind regards.

I run Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ on both my C400s, have for several years. They are Severe snow and Ice service rated. I've driven many miles in central Pennsylvania winter time roads, zero issues.

I drive them year round.

Good option mentioned by the other forum member : )

Since you are in Canada, recommend PMCTires, they also sell wheels.

As for tire what I went with, I personally went with Bridgestone Blizzak, I heard Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 is good too.

You could probably get squared tires instead of staggered so you can then rotate them. You could get the oem dealership packages as well if you don't want aftermarket.

Edit: wrong model, edited out inapplicable information

Hmmm my mistake sorry about that OP, didn't realize you have a C 300 not a 43, in that case, ignore pretty much everything I said above other than the squared advice and the two tire brands advice plus I guess pmctires as well. Don't really think the 43 stuff will fit a C 300.

Thanks for the insight.
What rims are you using? still the standard/stock or did you change to aftermarket?

If aftermarket, what size/width/offset profile?

Noted and thanks for chiming in.
Will check them out.

Any recommendation for rim/width/offset size?
Not sure what size and width/offset to follow.

I've gotten different responses in regards to this. Especially pertaining to "offset" where shops are saying 35mm should work. But my current setup is 44mm (front) and 49mm (back)

You're welcome.
If you go with squared setup, you could go ET45 with 225/45 R18 tires.

Thanks again for the help.

What are your thoughts on this configuration?
18x 8 ET35
245/40 R18

Will they rub or cause problems? Considering the staggered ET from current has a bit different ( 44 and 49 to now 35 )
I checked this site but honestly don't know how it impacts my setup.

You're welcome : )

That will work the wheels will stick out more though just make sure the lug bolts are long enough as a result.

Although in most cases you only need longer lug bolts when using spacers.

Measure them regardless by putting one through the wheel and measure the length it is poking out from the other end you want around 17mm poking out. No more than that on the back to prevent damage to the parking brake.

I appreciate the help as a noob like me is learning a lot.
So with this offset difference, I will probably need "spacers"?
Or not necessarily as long as the lug bolts are longer?

All good : ) happy to help.

You only need spacers if you want a wider stance or want to make it sit flush or in certain cases such as the wheel is too close to the suspension and rubbing.

35 offset when stock is 49 just simply means the wheels will stick out more from the fenders 35 is further away from the suspension than stock.

I would recommend against downsizing to 17s as it might not fit over the caliper.

I also recommend against buying extended length lug bolts until you confirm if you even need extended length by putting the stock lug bolts through and measuring the length sticking from the other side of the new wheels.

I have them on my stock 2015 sport package rims. Pretty sure they're exactly the same size as yours.

225/45 18 front
245/40 18 rear

Just realized you mentioned 245/40 tires. I would recommend going 225/45 for all 4 not 245/40 if you are going squared.

Thanks! I got the 18x8 ET 32 Offset with 225/45/18 tires

So far so good.
Initially they told me it was a ET 35, but it seems it was ET 32
Hoping it doesn't make a difference or negatively affect the vehicle.
