Anyone got ideas about these codes showing up with intermittent steering malfunction issue.

You electric steering rack is requesting attention.
The rack module is very sensitive to poor conditions.
Actually there may not be anything wrong with the rack itself but only poor environment conditions causing rack to act up. Namely
CAN-Bus signal
Floating GND
low power supply
Check chassis voltage while faults are active. Battery, Alternator or GND may have gone marginal.

Power steering malfunction light occasionally also popping up on the dash
take your car to your independent MB specialist whom you trust will not jump at replacing your $8000 steering rack for a basic GND post oxidation issue.
Your faults show a marginal PWR/GND connection.
Have you driven in heavy rain or standing water ??
