Keyless locking mystery

Car is a 2021 C300, 4-door sedan. When I am leaving the car and attempt to use the keyless locking feature by touching the door handle, it takes anywhere from 5-10 tries (tapping my thumb on the handle, etc) before the vehicle locks and the mirrors fold in. Interestingly enough, when *entering* the car, it works perfectly every time; the second my hand grips the door handle, it unlocks and the mirrors extend. The car is CPO and still under warranty but before I blow a hole in my day going to the dealer I thought I'd ask if anyone else has had this issue and was able to correct it.

Locking is kinda finicky. I had difficulty at the beginning as well because I was trying to lock it by tapping the square on the outside of the handle, but the success rate is somewhat hit or miss. What many don't know is that there are two areas you can tap to lock. What I do now is touch the larger sensors on the door handle with the back of my hand. That works reliably. It seems the finger tip isn't always conducting enough, especially since I tend to have dry hands. Using the whole back of the hand gives it a much larger surface area to conduct and you don't have to make sure that you exactly hit the sensor. For unlocking, I don't actually grab the handle at all. Just sticking my hand between the handle and the door is sufficient to unlock it. If you grab it, you can accidently lock it again as you unlock it.

Yup the square is confusing, I heard it is meant to be used for the summer convenience opening feature, that square I mean. You point at that square for the summer convenience opening.

Yes, convenience opening and closing is via the square. Tap and hold it.

I just tried it and the "back of the hand trick" works like a charm--THANK you! You just saved me a trip to the dealer. Much appreciated.

Just a tip.
If you keep your keys near your cellphone, you may run into either of the two errors. The car does not detect the key or and you can't lock to car using the small square without inconsistencies

What frequency in particular is causing the interference?
