Carfax says "Engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed"
I am considering purchasing a CPO 2019 C-Class with 55k miles, and I noticed the carfax says "Carfax says "Engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed" six months prior to the car being put up for sale. The dealer right before the put it up for sale says the fuel filter was replaced and "Fuel tank drained and cleaned, Fuel tank removed and reinstalled, Fuel tank replaced". Does this indicate some persistent problem they can't find?

Any damage to rear end? If you are worried, take to another dealer or good independent shop for inspection. You probably don't have much if any full warranty left. CPO does not provide complete coverage. Perhaps you can use this to ask for additional coverage, a written extension from the dealer, or some free maintenance.

"Engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed" could be a normal Service Campaign regarding Dieselgate or anything related with Software Update
The fuel filter and tank, maybe because previous owner misplaced diesel with petrol or vice versa.

Could have easily been a TCU replacement - that does require programming and a learn in of the security systems between engine, tcu and each BUS of the car.
