I came across this reddit thread of a retrofit for the glowing start button that started with facelift 2019 W205.
Evidently it can be done. Perhaps the EZS firmware support is there for the 2017 C43 that facilitates this?
The early EZS units don’t have the variant coding option (Illuminated button).
For my 2015 C400, It might be possible to load newer firmware into the old EZS BUT it might brick it.
So it's best to replace EZS with facelift-compatible one.
Professional diagnostic tools can read the firmware version and determine if the EZS can be virginized.
Perform SCN coding to adapt it to the VIN.
It's tricky to rock a rhyme.
Experienced retrofitters maintain unofficial “compatibility lists” showing which FBS4 firmware versions can be virginized.
MB probably made this more difficult.
I suspect this mechanic bought some used parts and then moved the info over for the car to recognize it.
Is it cost effective? Not sure. Opinions?
