W206 Manual Online Map Update ISSUE
Hi.
I have a 2022 C class 220d. I have realized there will not be over the air updates available anytime soon and there is V7 map data installed in my car. There is V11 available for manual update. I have managed to update some 3-4 regions via USB and couldn't anymore. It keeps on saying that the storage is full. Do you think there would be a solution to this?

Where does it say the storage is full? When you are downloading the maps or while installing them in the car? I don't think the map update process has changed. I've done several of them successfully. They updated the website recently, so now I can't download individual regions anymore. I can only download just my home region, which gets updated automatically via OTA update anyway, or I can download the full map update with all regions. It's quite large. I use a 64 GB SD card. It needs to be empty, otherwise the download manager refuses to download the update files. But once it's all downloaded I stick it in the car and just let it update in the background. Takes a few days depending on how often I drive. I have a C205 with COMAND, though, but it's essentially the same process for MBUX.

During the installation it says it's full and the update can't be completed. It comes to %42 and can't go more. For new C class there has never been over the air updates available. The new NTG7 is quite new and I think it has many issues. With W205s it must be totally different story since it has NTG6 which is a lot more stable

I see. Yeah sounds like a bug. The availability of the Mercedes me services is regional. Not sure why they don't have OTA updates yet where you live. I actually have NTG 5.5 in my car, which is the last version of COMAND, but yes as you say it's very mature at this point. NTG 6 was the first version of MBUX and it has OTA updates, but was also very buggy. They had to push out several firmware updates. Sounds like NTG 7 is no better. One of the downsides of OTA updates is that development teams get lazy and release unfinished software, thinking they can just fix issues later via updates. The quality of software upon release has noticeably decreased and the frequency of patch updates has simultaneously increased. There's something to be said about mature software that doesn't need constant patching.
