Lead time for body parts (door)
Hi all,
A month ago I was side swiped by a truck and I got my rear left door and rear quarter panel damaged.
Finally the adjustor and body shop after so much back and forth got to an agreement and repairs can start.
At least so I thought, but I just received a call from the body shop that the door (part 206-730-37-02) is nowhere to be found on US soil and it's backordered.
No one knows how long it will be before they receive one so tomorrow I'm going to pick up my damaged car and wait for a call.
Has anyone had a similar experience with backordered parts? How long will it take to get the part from Germany (or South Africa)?
This is so frustrating.
Thanks

I have 2022 C300 and I got rear ended and went to Mercedes authorized center in LA and they told me there’s no parts, not even clips or anything and that it would have to come from overseas, no timeline so they’re just going to fix the bumper as is, thankfully damage isn’t too bad

You will likely have to get a used one if you would like it done in a timely manner. The used one will be refinished regardless.
The quarter panel is part of the unibody and would have to be fixed by the body shop, not replaced, unless it gets cut out.

Small update. New door shell is expected to be coming in August, after I was told it was inbound two weeks ago.
At this point, since I don't trust MBUsa anymore, I decided to get the damaged door fixed by the body shop, instead to wait for a shell that might show up next year.
It's so frustrating.
