Even if not a DIY'er, and OBD scanner IMO is a handy tool to have, especially when the CEL illuminates and leaves you wondering about the severity of the cause.
Fluid level checks and corrections - I do this as needed
Tire inflation check and correction- I do my own based on ride, I am very picky about this. Shops usually pump them with 35 psi all around and I end up by correcting it
Brake component inspection- at 2k miles?, nah
Reset maintenance counter-you know the story

I just had service B done at the dealer and it ended up being $500 - $200 for parts $300 for labor. Without the mailer coupon I used, it would have been $560. I definitely felt extorted but realize it's the price of ownership and a lot of mom and pop shops aren't too familiar with the W206 yet. Also, MB has really locked down on its workshop ecosystem making it harder and harder for shops that don't want to pay MB for certification.
Definitely will do service A 3rd party again.

I agree with your DIY on the inspections and fluid level checks. These should be within the capability of every car owner. While I DIY my complete A and B service checklist, I appreciate that not everyone has the time and facilities to do them.
I have an oil change due in about 10 weeks, and will followup on how the Launch OBD scanner works on the service reset.
