I personally think Mercedes nailed the design. To me it looks really nice; I like the silhouette. The interior is very “flashy” and will likely attract the type of younger buyer this car is tailored too. I don’t normally like tons of screens, but even older me likes the mega screen; I think it looks awesome.

The dumb “star” lights, front and back, are light years better than the weird stars they put on the S Class. The S Class refresh looks cheap in the rear with those three dumb fat triangles, and the front star eyes looks more like bug eyes due to the depth. It’s terrible looking.

It depends, I mean it came from the W214 after all and they expanded it to the 2nd facelift GLE and GLS, the W223's stars are 3D while the newer star design language as you mentioned, looks more 2D.

Perhaps but I do think their intention was to bring back the classic Mercedes grille with a modern twist to it (ie. with LEDs), maybe they even said that in a press release if I recalled correctly.

I actually really like everything about the design except the front end (snout). I think the interior, rear and silhoutte are both sporty and elegant which is very hard to achieve.
The rear three quater view is fabulous.

If it drives well (I fully expect it to) I would strongly consider one. Other than the Taycan it's not like there are other beautiful EV's to compete with it.

I heard positive reviews on the CLA EV fully expecting the C EV to be another success as well in even more refinement and comfort. Someone (a reviewer) actually joked that it drives like a Rolls-Royce, obviously that is exaggeration but the test car CLA EV was on very refined and smooth roads.

Front end will have to grow on me.
Back end looks like an old Chevy Impala
Interior is still "chef's kiss"
EV's still showing bar soap heritage. Keep the classic lines and just throw EV motors in them if that's what you have to do.

Actually no soap bar here at all. Regular hood size, just more of a hatch back rather than a full 3 box sedan design. This just helps a bit on range. Once we have solid state batteries you can have just about any shape car and get decent range. Couple more years...

Still one important differentiator, especially when deciding between a smaller engine ICE/hybrid car and an EV in the same price range. The EV will feel quick and responsive vs a noisy, sluggish engine. Perfect to see when looking at the latest CLA reviews (EV vs hybrid)...

I am very curious as to what the ICE/gasoline version of the refresh will look like.

Will the grille look like the new or old c class? As much as I love my current center screen, I find the hyperscreen appealing and hope it's offered for upcoming ICE variants.

Would love a plugin in hybrid but MB refuses to sell the c sedan in the US.

Maybe thats it. The hatchback look is bugging me. It will probably have to grow on me, but I'm still not a fan of EVs. I can accept the hybrid cars where I dont have to rely on a plug. I will always be a V8 -V12 guy though.

If you are specifically talking about the W206, that is likely going to keep the same-ish interior design, just with some revisions to headlights and taillights (both the star pattern), the taillights gets the W214 style but instead of a pair on each side, one on each side total of 2 (I guess signifying C-Class not E-Class), that is how it looks in the spyshots. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/s...nd-268016.html

It will get the same MB OS like the W520 C-Class EV but the screen will be the same as the W206 pre-facelift.

What is bugging me is that it has the look of a hatchback without the benefit of the hatch.

They could had made it a liftback like the EQS but they chose not to, wonder if the E EV will have it or yet another traditional trunk sedan.

I have seen the same article many times via different providers. Complete idiots. They even explain how they do their wrong math.

First they use a $ price. People assume US net pricing while the German price includes a 19% VAT tax. They even mention that but should exclude that.
So let’s just say 55K EURO net. Then they use the Dollar to Euro exchange rate which sucks as the Dollar is the lowest for 6 years.

The difference here is that Mercedes can neither apply the foreign currency exchange rate losses nor those questionable tariffs in full.

In the past I have seen MB offer the cars in Dollar of what they are in Euro but that likely won’t work. Factor in a higher base equipment list for the U.S. as well as many German options comes standard here.

So here is my personal assumption based on this that the car will come to market in the low sixties, similar to the iX3…
