i did my research last week, and purchase a Passport 8500 X50 Blue.

there are obviously more expensive ones, but in the ranges of $500 to $1000.
but pre most review i've read, this passport is one of the best available, and it was for $339.

plus i spend extra $30 for the smart wire kit "hard wire" to the car so no wire is hanging, and installation was $30.

so i spend total of $400 and my radar is mounted on the lower center of my windshield, and no wiring hanging. everything looks clean that way.

there's actually 2 model to this passport 8500. either a blue face, or a red face for $40 cheaper, but blue is alot more easier on the eye and vision at night, and is more unique.

i purchase it on the day of my road trip, and i ran around different stores trying to get one, so all they had was passport.

 

I'm pleased with my V1, but only have it installed for drives and road trips. I've heard they can be overly sensitive around town.

Go for a K-40 Calibre. front and back radar in the bumpers diffuser front and back. Only thing you see in the car is 2 small blue lights that you put where ever you like for front and back sensors. Its a little expensive but I have one on all 3 of my cars. Well worth the money....

 

i agree...k-40 is the way to go...comes with a bluetooth remote as well....i've owned a v1 and the k-40...i'd have to choose k-40....plus it offers a laser difuser...not a bad idea if you drive the way i do....

 

I own a escort passport x50 that i've had since they came out 3 years ago. It has saved me 4/5 times, the 1 time being I didnt pay attention to it and got a ticket... I hardwired it to my previous car... (see pic below)
I totally love it, always considered the valentine V1 though..

Interesting thing I noticed.....
It gave me some problems in the 3rd year (was still under warranty), the place that I had to send it in was the exact same location that my friend sent his valentine v1 to get a firmware upgrade... I thought that was quite fishy, wonder if they are owned by the same company ? lol....

 

Do not listen to these guys, the K40 does not have the ability to jam lidar like it claims. The K40 may be able to detect radar but it can't jam any lidar guns used by the police.

Not only that you are basing your non-expert opinion on a first generation laser unit, which since has gone through 2 major revisions, the first was software, the second was a complete redo, which is 70% more powerful than the first one and 30% more sensitive.

now if anyone here was to believe this tool, I suggest you call K-40 yourself, and ask them first hand. They even have a 800 # if you are cheap.

Is K-40 the best? it is quite possible with one huge drawback. You have to rely on a shop to install it and test it, and to do it in a common sense manner. that is the draw back

Soon2bmb drove to Detroit from Cleveland in an 08 G55 without any tickets, and he had to run the gauntlet of I 80/90... then it was a G55, so we all know he wasn't doing the speed limit, and to top it off the vehicle has a Radar signature of a 747 sideways... so WTF?

Valentine which I sold and installed for a year at a previous business was more sensitive and was more prone to falsing... how the heck canyou say V1 is better when it falsed 2X as much as K-40?

And is the V1 a complete 360 coverage? hell no, that is marketing smoke being blown up your but.

Don't be fooled by marketing people. And like I said K-40 is great, but is as only as good as the installation... These people go crazy with the installation to make it fully functional... now consider what other shops are doing vs how these people do it... when i was with them a long time ago, you would see the stuff zip tied, siliconed, sideways, rusting, all from so called professional installers... check how they remove everything to install a receiver in the best possible spot allowed link

 

You are an idiot if you think I work for Radar Roy. I know that the Valentine One is the best radar/laser detector made and he doesn't sell it so why would I tell people to buy the V1 if Radar Roy doesn't sell it?

The K40 can't jam any lidar guns and that is the truth. Why are there videos on youtube showing many different kinds of laser jammers working but none of the K40 working? Why are there no videos of the K40 jamming lidar on their own website? Why is there no independent laser jammer test of the K40? Because the K40 doesn't jam lidar as advertised and is a scam. I will give you $10,000 in cash if you can show me a video of the newest retail K40 being installed and actually jamming lidar guns. Until then you need to shut your trap and quit trying to promote and sell the K40 scam to unsuspecting people.

As far as your claims that the Valentine One falses twice as much as the K40. The Valentine One is actually the most sensitive to radar and laser and it has a rear antenna unlike the competition so it will actually detect radar and laser quicker and for a longer period of time. Just because your K40 is quiet because it doesn't work doesn't mean that it falses less, it just means that the K40 isn't alerting to actual sources of radar and laser.

Just remember about the $10,000 and make me a video or don't say another MF'IN WORD!!

 

I'm currently in the market for a radar detector/laser jammer and don't really know anything about these products. I have no experience with them and therefore have no affiliation either way but I came across this video in my research. Is this what you were looking for???

damn radarking............. Looks like you owe someone some money. Reall y its all personal preference for the driver. I like the K-40 and have it in every one of my cars. Obviously some other people have there preference but unless they have had both in a car they really dont know. I have had both and my opinion K40 is the way to go..

 

I have the Passport 8500 X50 blue = WORKS REALLY GOOD...sure I could use the arrows...but I got mine new 2 years ago for 227 compared to 400 for the V1...and this actually has the lighter mute button standard which V1 charges 30-$40 for.


The best radar on the market right now just may be the new Passport 9500i

All the people here that read this. That one laser jammer on the front plate that office Resnik is shooting at is 2 generations ago, they upgraded that one since and then to top it off the redesigned the new one, which is 1/3 smaller, 70% more powerful, and 30% more sensitive, and will defeat every gun out there.

Being the most sensitive means it falses twice as much... what you thought that because it is more sensitive that is better? around here you would have it on for a mile and have 20 false alarms for every one police unit... and what is the V1 going to do for you with laser? tell you that you are getting a ticket? obviously by the time the receiver is getting the signal, the nose of the car is already returning the speed back to the gun...

I could care less what anyone buys here, as long as they are properly informed, not having some BS propaganda E-opinion stating BS facts. So which of those sites that you link to sell K-40? none... of course K-40 sucks... for you, and your opinion of K-40. you are the biggest puppet on the net... go get some real world experience, test them yourself, call K-40, go to a store and buy one and have them install it for you... it won't cost you anything ... remember they will give you your money back in 30 days? plus pay for any tickets...

Wow, they tested the radar detection but didn't talk about the laser jamming aspect for some reason. The reason is because it can't jam lidar and only you and a few other idiots wasted your money on it like fools.

Show me a video of it jamming anything and I will give you money.
