'12 CLS 63 Baseline Dyno
I put my non PP '12 CLS 63 on the dyno yesterday. Car had 850 miles on it. The numbers look very good especially considering how hot it was, 100 on the best run. They're right in line with what Renntech got with their test mule so as long as they're not exagerating their numbers my results should be similar. The dealership said I wouldn't have any warranty issues with them as long as I went with Renntech and not some of the other alternatives.
I also find it interesting that I had no heat soak issues. Considering the heat and that we were doing back to back runs, the last two only a minute apart, I find that impressive. The E55 even stock would lose power with every run in conditions like that. Could AMG have finally built a decent intercooling system?

Great consistent numbers... I love that our cars are underrated- again.

None more than I. I do bring them a lot of business though so maybe they made an exception. I did talk to all the right people and they all said it was fine as long it was Renntech and not some fly by night tune. The service department manager was very familair with the president of Renntech and his history with AMG.
I'm very pleased with the stock results. I hope to send the ECU out Tues after I talk with Renntech. Their price is a little steep, but if they can deliver nearly 100hp to the wheels then it's actually a pretty good deal.
Does anyone know where the ECU is in this car? Did they hide it in the wheel well like they did on the 2010+ E63?

Forgot to ask... did you do the "soft" break in as AMG recommends or did you drive it up and down the rpm range and speeds; more like a "hard" break in which i like to do.

More like a hard break in. Fairly easy the first few hundred then up and down the rpm band. Some harder launches here and there.

Also, I think your math was off trying to "gross" it back up... 480rwhp with 18% loss would be 580hp at the crank (480/.82). Using 15% loss would yield 565hp at the crank.

WTF? Why 3 weeks? I can understand a few days but its not laborious in nature- its just a shelf tune anyways. Somethings not right.

They said the turnaround time for the CLS tune is 2 days and they have quite a few in queue. Seems high, but maybe MB made things more complicated with some software trickery. I was hoping to have it this week and take it to the dragstrip.

Great numbers and without the PP to boot!!! You should take it to the track in stock form and get a baseline 1/4 mile like you did with the dyno. After the tune take it back and measure the gains...

a car that gets very poor gas mileage.
Very impressive baseline numbers indeed!
Three weeks waiting list??? So, I don't think we're going to see Renntech in here offering a group buy for their tune.

ECU is on its way to Renntech. They have a new tool which will allow them to do these quicker. I hope to have it back Thurs or Fri. If so the track is open Fri and I'll head out there. I'll get it dynod again as well. Cross your fingers.

On the dyno now. 2 pulls done. I only put about 20 miles on it after putting the ecu back in. Picked up 10 hp between the first and second run. Sitting at 548 HP and 580 TQ. Letting it cool then doing the last pull.

So, to be clear, what was the first run gain? I understand you gained 10 hp more on the 2nd per your post.
