Tire size for 2012 cls63

I have 2 questions: Does anybody know how wide you can go with rear tires on original 19" amg rims and how wide can you go on any rims? Thanks.

Well the factory wheel is 19x10- you could go 305x30x19 or maybe 315 on that wheel but it would look stupid and it would not be optimal. You would have too much overlap sidewall.

On any wheel- the max would be a 305 tire or maybe a 315 if you are not lowered but I recommend 305x25 (these scenarios would be for a 20x11 wheel)

Yes, as a matter of fact, if I recall, the C219 has a little more room out back to play with.

Also, the offset of your wheels will play a very important role in determining how wide of a tire you can mount in the rears before you start to get any rubbing on the fenders.

Thanks. One more thing: do you know the offset on the stock MB wheels? ET 35 or 45?

As mentioned pretty much- the only difference is the C219 can run an even lower offset in the rear than the C218 (2012 CLS)

Thanks! I also found out the same information in the owner's manual. I would have thought that since the front breaks are bigger than the rear breaks, the offset required on the front would be larger, but it's not the case. Why is that?

What's behind my question is that I will need to get a set of rims for next winter eventually. According to the manual, I should go with 255/35/19 for all tires but with rims of 9X19 et37 on the front (same as original) and 9.5X19 et52 on the rear (same tire size but different rim size?). I'm wondering why not 9X19 on 4 wheels so I suspect that the clearance required on the rear is needed for another reason than brake size.

Thanks for helping make my education on wheel sizes for this car!
