Think my plugs went...

Two hours after my SA tells me that there is nothing on the radar about the plugs my car starts idling real hard and then the engine light popped on. I was a mile away from the dealership so I took it in and they're supposed to let me know this afternoon what the deal is. SA made it clear that he would not mess with the tune and that it should be fine.

To be continued....

Yep. I was coming off the Crown Valley exit off the 5 South waiting at the light at Crown. Car started to rattle pretty hard and then the engine light came on.

You know the area...I couldn't have been much closer to the dealership and they had me in a loaner in about 5 minutes.

But with my tune not even having 100 miles on it yet its curious.
SA said engine light coming on was a very good thing.

I guess I'll go over to the C300 board for a while....

It was the plugs
This is why I love this board.
Part will be in tomorrow and I should have it by lunch.

They also confirmed that the tune will not be touched.

So far so good outside of trying to getting over lining up next to a M5 in a 300C loaner car....

Haven't really put many miles on it yet though...I'll update in a couple of days.
Here are the details....

so they know you have a tune and don't give you a hard time about it?

Let me answer like this:

If my engine blows up because of the tune I am SOL like everybody else.

Otherwise the SAs are car guys like us and fun to talk to. On top of that they have always gone well beyond taking great care of me and my wife through 10+ cars over that many years(C230 wagon, E320, E320 wagon, R500, CLS500, CLS63(219), CLS63 (218) 2 GL450s and a GL550....ha...I never wrote that down before). We can roll in unannounced and roll out 10 minutes later in a loaner...what more could I ask for.

Does that answer your question?

The 450 was a great car but the 550 has a real set of ***** and a great interior. My only gripe is that even though its a 2012, they haven't upgraded the Command system to the version we have on the 218. Outside of that its a great 7 seater.
I think the real reason I went this way though was that the 550 came with everything and wasn't that much more than the GL450 optioned out.
I was actually going to hold out for the GL63 but my dealer told it was too far away.
Pretty bad *** looking though...I'll eventually powder coat the wheels black and tint it out...just to **** my wife off....

yeah im thinking about trading in the denali for a gl, but its quite a price gap for me, even a certified pre owned.
i just dont think the 450 will have enought power to move that size of a vehicle, dunno,

450 had spunk, has the same towing capacity (7500lbs) and only has about 40 less lbs of torque. I was fine with getting another its just that when I loaded it up and looked at the cost I was just like F-it.... Its my wife's day to day but I drive if I'm in the car and always thought I had enough.
Your also talking about a much more refined, plush vehicle....not really apples to apples.
Just don't be an OC *sshole if the GL puts you in a $$$ bind...

bottom line is i gotta be able to fit3 car seats in teh middle, the denali can now, but its a bit of a climb for wife, not sure if the gl is as wide, prob go check it out this week

vdub,
i was in the same exact situation. My wife had the GL. It was doable with two kids in car seats, but the third one makes it impossible. you can not get 3 car seats on the second row. you will be forced to use the third row. the problem with that, the car seats will prevent you from dropping the second row to access the third row. Thus having to go through the trunk. with strollers in the trunk that is now being used by the third row, it is simply not doable. Our solution was to get the escalade esv with the captain chairs. this allows my two children to easily walk to the third row buckle themselves in and allow the captain chair for my third child who is still in an infant car seat. with the third row up you stilll have substantial trunk space for strollers etc.. my wife loves it, but it is no GL. but it drives great, its cheaper, its bigger and most important my wife is really happy with it.
