To me a speeding ticket is a badge of honor. Lucky for me a phone call and it's gone. But still.

What are the laws coming down too...
They need to take away these medieval laws from the 50's and redesign the whole standard.
These rules were made when the top speed of a car was 80 mph..
According to the 85th percentile all highways should be a minimum of 75mph.
70 in a 55 lol.
Everyone here is doing 90 on the regular.

Not sure how it is in the US but in Ontario, Canada, your car gets pounded with $10k fine if you get caught 30mph (50kmh) above the speed limit. If you're medieval in the US, we are prehistoric. And yes, radar detectors are prohibited...Originally Posted by Das Geld 2

that's in Ontario I guess? here in Alberta and maybe a few other provinces radar detectors are legal.
I hope I can find a way to have a radar detector without having he silly coily cord strung across my dash!!!
zolivary, how did you make the ticket go away?

You reckon your rules are tough.....anything over 30ks over in Aus, & they'll impound the car......max speed over here in most places is 100KPH, some areas are 110kph.....No exceptions....ya go over....ya gone.
Even in our "wide open spaces".....open her up at your own risk......"Boys In Blue" are everywhere!

wow, in alberta over 50 km over, you get an automatic court appearance, no fine on the spot. usually a 400 dollar fine and a few demerits. but usually no more.
10 k fine? how the hell can that be justified?

Big boards everywhere to remind drivers about consequences of driving too fast. They passed this law 5-7 years ago in response to a number of deadly accidents from "street racing events". Now arguably, they call it "maximum fine" so you can probably end up with a lower fine in front of a judge. Three years ago, the day I got my tune on my C63, I got caught at 31 mph over and the police guy wrote the ticket at 29 over...I guess there is some judgment exercised by the police force but I got my lesson I can tell you. For traffic laws, I miss my home province of Quebec, the fastest driving province...after Alberta maybe?Originally Posted by mainly
