Already did the LSD at 1000 and now the light is on again?

Thoughts? ECU upgrade making the engine run hotter and going through oil faster?

engine oil top off is different from differential flush. the LSD comes with break-in fluid that needs to be replaced at 1800 miles or something. anyways oil top-off is common on this car. try not to drive the car too much until you top off the oil. the dealership carries the oil and will most likely top if off for free. make sure they top it off with the correct oil weight and type. so you're at 3500 miles? hahah i'm already at 10K :/ topped off the oil twice. once at the deals and once myself.

My CLS55 uses Mobil 1 0W40 full synthetic European Car Formula.
Mobil 1 0W-40 has the following builders approval:
MB-Approval 229.3
MB-Approval 229.5

I have added oil about once every two months - pretty typical of AMG engines to consume oil in those first few thousand miles

I broke mine in "aggressively" and haven't had to top it off in 3k miles so far.

Do you mean that the oil light has not come on or the fill has been sufficient per the dipstick?

Sorry for the confusion and no...nothing to do with the LSD...I was just complaining that it needs maintenance again so soon. But I have been through a two week fix on a fried suspension and having to deal with bad plugs so at 3500 this beast has needed a lot of love.

Really? I had a 08 CLS63 and never had to do that.

I'm at 3500 and the check oil light has come on twice for a minute each time and hasn't returned. I will top it off this weekend and keep extra on hand. I broke mine in "aggressively" as well...think I did a burnout leaving the lot...

Easy enough to do I guess. You put a lot of miles on weekly?

Also - I want a GL63 soooo bad. I would mad max it out big time....Seen spy shots but the dealer does know squat.
How do you like the ML63?

FYI AMG approved oil is 229.5---- dont use 229.3 its not on the list and 5-40 is fine since we live in warmer climates.

I put a decent amount, but it's really dropped off since I got the ML! I'm still of the opinion that a GL63 will not be made - the last official word from Affalterbach (quite a while ago) was that the GL was too heavy & tall to be AMG'd (the G63 obviously doesn't follow the same rules). And the ML63 with the new engine is an absolute monster - some torque steer, but all of the upgraded features (active body roll cancellation, active safe features, etc.) really add to the overall experience.

What up with that? The G is heavier and taller than the GL and IMO ugly as hell...

We have the GL550 now and love it. Stock 0-60 is about 6.5 I think which is pretty good for a 6000+lb car.

...and I can fit my 9ft surfboard inside...

Checked mine w/ the dipstick last week and it was fine, then I get an add oil light yesterday LOL.

Sounds about right...

I've been adding oils so much that last week I did it late at night and forgot to put the oil cap back on.

What a mess.....
