Finally...I really am Mr. Happy
I picked up my new cls63 (black on black, Premium and Performance packs) yesterday and already drove 150 km. Coming from a tuned C63, here are my first impressions:
- Smooth: Is it the suspension or the longer wheel base but the car feels much more forgiving on the road imperfections
- Quiet: No squeak, noiseless; Can't hear much of the road noise which may be due to a better quality in general and the Continental tires possibly?
- Musical: The music coming from the engine is even better (and louder?) than the M156;
- Powerful: I cannot fully appreciate this aspect yet but the immense amount of torque is obvious. Looking forward to the end of the break-in period.
- A bit jerky: Transmission is definitely faster but is a bit jerky going from 2nd gear to 1st at low rev. Maybe it will get better over time.
- 1st and 2nd gears are a bit longer, which is a big convenience when you drive in M mode, and the transmission is less prompt to go back to 1st gear by itself when I'm approaching a stop sign
- Accurate: Steering is even more responsive and tighter than my C63.
- Gas pedal response feels a bit slow but it may be because the pedal itself is quite hard and I may be overly cautious when I step on it.
- Driving position...I haven't found the perfect setting yet as the proper position of the wheel seems to obstruct the full view of the dashboard dials.
- OK sound: I was hoping for much better from the sound system than what was in my C63 (which already had the premium package at the time)...I got slightly better instead...still weak in the mid range.
- Spectacular interior...period.
- Great exterior in black but after seeing some of your cars in different colors, maybe I should have been less conservative in my selection.
- What I miss: Gear shifting from the transmission lever and the general sense of being the master of my beast...at this point, I'm scared of her!
I'll post a few pics later.

Very nice car even in black but I agree about the other colors . Black is the original car color , it looks good but it got to be waxed to death and black shows scratches . But "BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL" Thanks for your driving impression and car comparison from a C63 . That's the kind of thing I want to read we know the car is "FAST AS HELL" .

I couldn't agree more on this point. I know the reaction times were slightly slower when using the gear shift vs. the paddles but being a guy who learned to drive on an on manual 5 speed my right hand is on the gear shifter at all times anyway.
And the paddles turning with the wheel is a little strange too...I believe with most cars the paddles are static on the column and not the wheel itself.
Congrats...o'yea...and that whole break-in period is a myth...

I think you and I are the only black owners that regularly post (tt versions). Congrats on joining the club- I love the black car even though it requires alot of attention in regards to cleaning. But it sure does show the lines of the car well IMHO.

When I first read your post, I didn't understand what you meant...but now I see...good eye! I'm not thinking about mods yet but I'm sure it will come (window tint, rims, ecu, ...)

I just realized that my car doesn't have the tail reflector (between the exhaust pipes). Is it something they missed or a North American thing? I noticed that it's also missing in many pictures on this forum.
