Really not digging the side profile... The hatch is too bulbous...

(on second look) We bought the R because we've always had a van in the stable. The R sits higher than a wagon, but not as high as an SUV, just what we wanted. The R has 3 rows of seats, the back one of which we always have folded down for more carry space (luggage, mulch, manure, etc.) So 2 rows would be fine.
Maybe you just have to love an R to accept the Shooting Brake (do NOT like that name; besides, it'll be too hard to ride around shooting buffalo out those rear windows). Soon the R will not be for sale in the US, so maybe that's where they are going. Although the R didn't seem to be the most popular.
My current feeling from the pics: Not terrible. Certainly unusual. There are only so many ways to style a ... wait, that's not true. In our town every third car is a Merc. Not many Rs, though. This one would be different!

Mercedes did good with making a new car segment; a 4 door "coupe". Other brands are now copying this concept, VW, BMW etc... They really did it right, however, this new "Shooting Brake" IDK. I'm sure in AMG form, it's going to be a very rare car. But what's the point? Who really thought, "God, you know, I really love my CLS. I just wish I could get it with the body of a station wagon!" They could've have designed it a little more striking IMO. What's next, a CL Wagon? Maybe SL65 wagon

Im not a fan, but lets be realistic about this... Station Wagons have never been hot...
Panamera's IMO are ugly as hell. E-wagons look weird in the back. 5 series wagons look worse. Not as bad as the Panamera but still pretty damn ugly. As for the A6/A4 wagons they look alright. C-class wagons are okay as well... but think about a sexy wagon. This IS the nicest wagon.... not necessarily from the side, but the front makes up for the ugly parts. The R-class was always an ugly B***h but they tried (Its comfy as kajvhdvkajsdhbv)
So, instead of throwing it down, lets look at the upsides, this is probably the nicest wagon you'll find. Especially when youre comparing it with the E-class wagon. The interior (from what I've heard) doesnt even compare with the CLS. So, once again we have a winner. And also, have you guys even seen the AMG version... Looks IMO pretty decent. The reg CLS wagon look ****.
SO... this is once again my OP, everyone has theirs as well... sooo.... you guys decide...
and give it some TIME... Theres alot of cars that at first I thought looked ugly, but I gave it some time and it looked pretty damn gorgeous after a while...

All these automakers should just called their CLS type of cars as coupe-inspired sedan.
The problem comes from automakers trying to blend too many things into one. It's like all those convertible SUV's, ie convertible Murano.

That Murano convertible is quite a sore to the eyes. Speaking of "hot sellers"--yeah, a long time ago, car makers' innovations were all about technologically significant things; ie, nowadays, rather than marketing torque vector differential, Honda is showing "dog ramp" which is more of a "hot sellers" for consumers.
