Question 2013 CLS 63 PP+ - jerky gear change?? Please advise!

Hey guys, need your advice.

Just finished running in my CLS63, been playing around in S+ and Manual mode, and I've noticed something in the gear changes that I've not seen on the NA 63's i've had in the past.

Whenever the car changes from 1st to 2nd, or from 3rd down to 2nd, there is quite a significant "jerk" or "thud" felt as the gear changes, which I don't feel in any of the other gear changes regardless of revs. 2nd gear seems to be the common factor, clearly.

Is this common across the other CLS63 TT's or should I get it booked in with Merc to take a look at??

Thanks in advance!

Im not sure you have had an MCT before---- your SLS was a true DCT--- this is quite normal for an MCT car in S+. I get the same feedback in my CLS as well. Its more associated with the aggressive down shifting and/or upshifting with S+ mode along with the way the gears move via the MCT. You should not have such feedback in C mode or S mode.

Thanks for the quick reply Vic!

Was the 2012 C63 an MCT? If so perhaps I just didn't notice it in that car.

I'll have a try in S and C mode as you said and see if the thump still happens, I'm not opposed to it, just need to remove the flag in my head if it's normal.

I think the 2012 stateside C63's got the MCT--- not sure about your end though.

Just checked, we got the MCT too. Oh well, will get to the bottom of this tomorrow.

Does it only happen in your 2nd gear too, or is it across the range?

Lower gears on upshifts and downshifts--- never in gears 3-7...

Same here. A little more pronounced after tune. Have to feather gas very lightly in 1st gear and even 2nd at times or it can get very jerky, but only when in S+

i drive them all, fast and hard
i agree with above.....2nd to first is a pretty significant motion....really slows the car almost to a stop...S+ only, not so much in S....S is still the mystery mode to me....havent driven in M that much yet.

It happens to me but only when the car is cold, it only stays in 2nd gear for a half a second then switches to 3rd gear doesn't matter if I'm in c, s or s+ its hard and abrupt, 2012 non pp but I have it tuned

yes mine had the same thing. didnt make sense, for it to happen only between 2 gears, but none of the rest.
