Cls redesign
If it ain't broke...don't fix it IMO
That being said, not a CLA fan. Big deal.....there was a Super Bowl commercial for it....which accounts for 99% of the hype. It's an entry-level Benz....it's not even a C class.
Everything is about marketing......I hear about how everyone cross-shops the A7 against different cars and they all speak great about it....but it's funny how not one of those people who ever post that stuff actually bought the A7 in the end.
Whether MB's sales are declining against whoever has nothing to do with the CLS versus the A7 or any other car. BMW and Audi's models all have just come out in the last 2 years.....and in 2 years when all the new Benzes are out....Audi and BMW will be back behind again. Gee, what are you going to buy? A S class that has a new model coming out next year....or the A8 that has only been out 2 years?
A 5 series that has only been out really 2 years....or a E-Class that has been out 3-4 years now?
A 6 series that has been out a year? Or an E-class coupe....which again, has been out 3-4 years (and really isn't a competitor to the 6 series).
Look at 2010.....new E class versus old 5 series.....new S class versus a 7 series BMW that underwhelmed, at best (and I owned one....I'm not talking out of behind)......the A7 didn't even exist...the only car to write home about from then was the A5....and it's because the price point was nice for what you got.
I could care less if BMW has higher sales numbers because they introduced 3 crappy cars underneath a 3 series.....or because Audi has a lousy $40k 2 door coupe. It means nothing to the people who buy the higher-end BMWs, Benzes, Audis, Porsches.
Listen, I get the we love mb on this board. But even the most diehard mb fan has to admit that outside of this board, the world doesn't agree with us, as evidenced by everything from global sales to car reviews.
I admit that its a matter of opinion whether one thinks the consensus is right or wrong; but one can't dispute that it is against the cls and mb right now.

BMW has refreshed both the 3 and 5 Series and Mercedes is now following suit with the E and S Class this summer and C next year. Plus adding volume generators like the CLA class.
I've yet to read a car review that would make me pic a M6 Gran Sport or an S7 over a CLS63

If the CEOs job is riding on a fwd low budget model, do you think that's a sign of success for a luxury car maker?
There's really no point in arguing this. All I was trying to say is that you guys criticize one opinion by blurting out your own more biased opinions. Even when data supports my claims, you guys still refuse to admit that your opinions are clouded by bias. Lets just believe what we want to believe and leave it at that.

And for every 2 you post, i can trump you with 4 more...the numbers don't lie...my opinions are based on the numbers and facts...not analyst speculations

Mercedes is experiencing sales increases in all the upscale vehicles, while BMW's sales are attributed to the 1 series and the entire MINI Line
BMW's success is bolstered by the success of the MINI line....not their luxury line...sales of the 7 series and 6 series are miserable

I've had the top of line models from Merc and BMW....they both are good cars. they both are head and shoulders above Audi and always will be. Audi is a fad.....
Why volume instead of profitability, quality complaints or design awards between CLS and S7 to 6CG ? Why not just performance segment of AMG versus BMW M series.
Or is my logic all wrong and unit sales of all models (and sub brands like mini) means that somehow the Grand coupe is a better product because the Global brand is outselling MB ?
What about 2014 models when AMG ups the power again, will the crowd of little 4 liters be able to wheeze more power/torque out across the whole rpm range ?
2014, The updated CLS lineup will also be offered in the 4MATIC S-Model variant which lifts output to 585 HP (430 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) between 1,750 and 5,000 rpm.

and yes, it was wrong of me to loop the brands with these specific models; i got sidetracked so i very much apologize for that. my wife and i drive so many of the models across the three brands that you see the exact same shared components over and over again. when you see the same instrument cluster, buttons, steering wheel, etc. you just loop all the models under the mfr umbrella. same with drive characteristics. drive an e and cls back to back and they drive the same. same with an a/s/rs 6 and 7 audi, and bmw 5 and 6 gc series. it's like when you see a spider and think "oh look it's a spider", yet you don't consider that they're eleventy billion species of spider, you just lump them all together as spiders.
and i didn't post numbers because we're going to slice them up based on our viewpoints. just like when car reviews don't go the cls's way, we claim that they're biased. if the cls wins, we'd say look it's definitive proof how great the car is. for example, why do ppl on here go out of there way to point out that bmw owns mini, yet we don't talk about how daimler owns smart or that they make commercial vans and big rig semis. the only reason i posted links above is to make a point that there's a counter argument for every opinion.
in short, i was wrong and everyone else was right. opinions that favor the cls are correct, and opinions that don't are wrong.
Drove 5500 km, 80% in Germany. There seems to be a lot of Audi's.
Dig up the sales numbers for the three ( BMW, Audi, MB) for Germany 2012.
This would tell us the real story!
