Love the car and the pics but never been a fan of red interiors and wheels. You pull it off pretty well though.

I think you can find a happy medium between "kind of boring" and "bubble gum" no doubt

Red wheels are definitely a bold look but on a Pcar and especially a gray one, the color is fitting. The hard lines of the 991 with the hyper (no pun) aggressive Aero Kit actually make it beg for more boldness IMHO. Pert pulled it off well and we all know Pert; the wheels will be swapped or interchanged soon for gold or bronze or pink bubble gum.

LMAO,, That's some funny sh*t. Yeah, got the name downtown Philly back in the day.

Yeah, that's a great combo together, definitely classy but still cool as hell. New interior layouts on those cars are so nice, what a difference from the older models. My 2001 still has the stock cassette deck with the 4 cassette holders..lol

Yeah I think the knock on Porsches -- presumably from nonenthusaists -- was that it was a pretty barebones interior with a ****ty entertainment system. This car has a great stereo -- and that's coming from someone who has done a lot of high end aftermarket systems -- and is perfect for me since I really just want to hear the Akrapovic exhaust burbles and crackles.

I will say the one big difference between Porsche and Mercedes/BMW are the owners -- or at least many that I have interacted with at local Cars and Coffees. Many of the Porsche people I have met, have given me the smirk/cut eyes like someone who is applying for membership to an exclusive country club. I've gotten the "Oh it's PDK" or people rattling off what 911s they had previously or how many, blah blah blah. Mercedes and BMW enthusiasts never really did that to me. But now, it's like I am "new money" that the old guard scoffs at. I am totally cool with it, just makes me laugh.

Hey Pert congrats on the new car. Love me some 911, but out of curiosity did you not enjoy the m5? I'm in the market for either an e63 or m5 and your opinion would mean a lot.

Thanks -Steve

Really liked the M5....the Porsche was a spur of the moment (I fell in love with the car). The M5 was fun but it's a big big car. With the exhaust I had and downpipes, it sounded like a beast....but the M5 needs all that to sound aggressive. The Porsche does it on it's own with the Sport Exhaust and even more so with Akra. I never was in love with the M5...and basically got it because I liked it and it was a new 2013 and leased it for $10k under MSRP (about $3k under invoice). If the deal wasn't there, I wouldn't have picked up the M5. Stock to stock - I would give the slight edge to the CLS63 with the performance package (what I had previously).

I agree here too- I had my M5 for 6 months and I just never 100% connected with the car. I find that its replacement, the SL63TT, to be more of what "I" wanted in a car (apples and oranges I know). The 991 is amazing and the interior really creates a luxurious sports car. Im on my 2nd one and anticipate getting yet another unless I cash in my dream and get the 458 Italia.

regarding the SL63TT, I'm considering this car, but have read the ride is a little too stiff, what is your opinion on this?

btw, I drove my neighbor's 458 Italia, wow, just wow!

Well the 458 is an incredible machine in both experience and looks IMHO.

I have the SL63 with the optional AMG performance suspension which makes it even stiffer with less body roll (more neutral) than a normal SL63. Im not sure if this is available for 2014 models but I don't find my car to be uncomfortable. This does depend on the roads where you live but here in the OC the roads are relatively well paved. I wouldn't want the car without the upgrade suspension as I drove both and you could feel the weight more in the softer AMG car. But others will opt for comfort over function. You should drive one in all the modes: soft and sport and then you will get a better indication. For me its not harsh at all but I like a more neutral handler and will always sacrifice comfort for performance.

thanks, very helpful

the 458 sound is addicting, it is a serious machine to drive, a race car made for the track with great lines, and an even greater price my neighbor bought it for more than MSRP as there is apparently a long waiting list for a new one, his has 1700 miles on it, red with black interior, beautiful

Since the w212amg forum is kind of dead, and the heavy hitters are on this post I figured I would ask a question to you guys on here. Sorry Pert for asking a question on your post. I am thinking about doing a color change wrap on my e63s, it is black now but want to try a different color since they only offer black, white and silver as a option stock.. Any suggestions? Matte white, matte red??

all a matter of personal taste but a matte finish looks great, IMO this looks awesome:

I'm confused regarding the "AMG performance suspension", I don't see it available on either 2013 or 2014 SL63's, just the AMG performance package which does not state anything about the suspension
