how fast would you say I'd go in 1/2 mile run?
there is a sponsored event coming up not far from where I live, it's at an airport runway, 5200 ft
I have a stock '12 CLS63 PP. What speed would you expect the car to reach in that distance? allowing distance for stopping of course

Thats my boys event...All his events are rolling start, and I dont foresee him changing it unless there is a safety issue. Member Faris on here would be able to give you a real good idea what you would run. I might drive down to AZ for that event. Dont know what Ill bring but it might be my modded CLS63. It will be his first event in AZ.

From the latest 2014 Georgia 1/2 mile event .. 2012 Mercedes E63 AMG (Twin Turbo) ran a best of 154.533 prolly tune + dwn pipes/no cats race tune? As another 2014 @ same event listed w/600 whp (definitely aftermarket tuned) almost ran 150 mph w/2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG (Twin Turbo) (600whp) 149.800
This event was in bad DA 5k feet w/90 ambient, so in cooler air etc etc high 150's thu 160mph is def possible on these new beasts!

wow! What part of this thread is discussing resale value or road course racing? You sound like the proverbial BMW douche vs MB when given a SIMPLE example of a 1/2 mile etc STRAIGHT LINE race outcome that doesn't favor his BMW... Your input here is beyond meaningless.. No need to get your panties all bunched up. I'm just stating the obvious. I don't care about Ferraris or BMWs. I just never understood why people need to put another brand down just to justify how fast their car go on a straight line. Soon enough those Hellcat Charger owners will tell us to ask for a refund because our AMGs can easily be beat by a $70K 4-door sedan Dodge. What are going to tell them then? Oh, my car is more luxurious than yours.

I'm glad to see some participation on this forum, it's been dead lately.
my neighbor who has a F458 drove my car the other day and was very surprised with the acceleration, still amazes me how such a big heavy 4 door sedan (coupe?) can perform so well
however I drove his F458, was a "bucket list" experience, felt like a go cart on steroids, all I needed was a race track to let that beast free
the feel of a car to me is what separates them, so far Porsche has the most unique feel like you are part of the road, the F car felt like that too, very nimble
I still love my CLS63, sometimes wish the seat/ride were a little more comfortable

Another thing to note, not ALL cars have your massive tq etc or same performance level and will not be able to fetch those extra 30mph in the 1/2 mile. Though Im sure it's a good estimate

i think a cls or e63 with nothing but a tune, (which is IMO still essentially stock, since nothing was added to the car) with 700 hp and 830 lbft will embarrass a hellcat in any race.
