Angry need a rear bumper! damn!

Got nailed in my passenger rear end......lucky for me there was no damage to my wheel or my diffuser lol pretty sure I was to blame, but I think the other driver could have stopped......I was in reverse going about a mile per hour......

I've been looking for a bumper online, but to no avail......doesn't seem like it would be THAT much eh?
kind of sad my car has a big gnarly gash on it

why look online? are you going to fix it yourself and not go to a body shop?

if you own it the real hit is the CarFax report on the resale value, which is why I've decided to lease going forward

not all body shops report to CarFax, and the ones that do typically have a minimum dollar amount before it's reported, you may want to inquire before deciding where to take it

Oh man! Sorry to hear about that. Looks like it got nailed on the sheet metal above the bumper, too. Maybe the sheet metal can be popped out. I wonder if the bumper can also be popped out, resurfaced and sanded, and repainted.

So $1350.80 is for repair rather than replacement?

yeah, that rivet is clearly showing, and I'm not opposed to a new bumper......then again it is only the bumper.....and not a HUGE deal....
but of course resale value......

forgot how much the guy said a new bumper listed for.....have to double ask tomorrow

That new bumper price is pretty close to the repair fee. Of course, the labor and painting is going to be intensive unless you can do it or have a buddy who has the skills and can help you for nearly free. I'd say go around and get some more quotes for the repair. As long as it's not reported to carfax or things like like, it's just a bumper that might get scraped and dented again another day.

again the real cost is the hit on resale value, most people won't even touch a car with an accident reported on CarFax, so I'd try to avoid it being reported if possible

CarFax reports are a huge liability when owning an expensive car

I see the quarter panel is damaged as well. What's the deal with repairing/replacing that?

Have you considered switching over to the Facelift rear bumper and Facelift tail lights since you've got to replace the bumper anyways? I'm pretty sure your diffsuer would transfer over as well.

For 1300 extra bucks you have to replace. Its an AMG not a used 10 year old car. My thought process is - whats the percentage of repair dollars to the current value and how will resale hurt you if some runs a paint meter over the repaired area. In this case, the 1300 is the gap and its really not that much considering you have the top of the line (for the year made) CLS car.

yes, those spots have been included in the cost...and I have not considered the newer parts......I do like the vents on the rear's of the newer models, but I don't think that conversion is for me

that is essentially the same way I feel, didn't consider a paint meter, but yeah, new seems good

Just a question...

How the hell would they fix that bumper? That's some serious bondo wielding genius ...
