Is a 2015 CLS63 a w212 or w218?
I just got this car and I'm looking for a remote start kit but I'm finding references all over the internet calling this car a w212 and also a w218. Can someone say for sure which it actually is? I called my local dealership and the sales guy tried to look it up but actually couldn't figure it out either and the service dept. was closed. Also, any information on a good option for remote start would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any information.

Thanks, I found my way to this particular forum using the vehicle specific categorization scheme they use to organize this overall forum but I'd seen several places on the internet where they call the 2015 version of this car a W212.
One place is HERE on this remote starter site. They are saying the 2012 to 2014 CLS is the W218 and the 2015 to 2017 model is the W212. I guess they just have it wrong?

some parts on CLS W218 start with part codes of E class which is W212 and some from SL which is W230.
and couple of parts from E class W211 also.
but the VIN starts with W218 for the CLS from 2012 up to 2018
and couple of parts from E class W211 also.

Please let us know what remote start kit you end up selecting. Mid City Engineering's kit looks nice, but I have no direct experience with their stuff. Good luck.

The dealer couldn't even tell you? LOL!!! What dealer, may I ask, doesn't know the chassis number for a cls??m haha!
I want to call them and find out
