I have a 2016 CLS400 VIN: WDDLJ6FBXGA180989 I already have Carplay enabled in the Commad menu and I have the USB with the Image of tablet. I simply want to have Android auto enabled as well. Can you help me figure out if my system has the correct firmware to do this?

No luck! I was able to use my Launch Diag X431 VPro automotive scanner to enable the Android Auto menu in the carousel. But when I connect the phone the screen goes blank. Tried older Note 9 phone and my new fold4 phone. I know something is there because if I mess with the scroll wheel, I have accidentally hit the google maps and I hear sounds just like when I go to google maps in my wife’s 2017 E400 Android Auto menus. We have the exact same head unit but her Firmware in 1 revision newer and hers works great! But the dealers are clueless (claim it is not possible) and web coders I have reached out to have never give me a serious answer as to whether I can buy a Xentry or DAS setup (laptop, Interface with software) can they actually upload the proper code to get it to be fully active.
I have one more dealer in the area I am going to try before my CPO warranty runs out.
I'm just about to take delivery of a used 2016 B-Class, which already has option 14U, Smartphone Integration Package, and 16U, Apple Car Play integration. I don't have an iPhone - won't go near them - but I do have an Android phone and, like others in this thread, I want to be able to activate that. If you have Apple CarPlay and you need to add android auto using this device you will have both Apple CarPlay and android auto

your car will be compatible ONLY after audio head unit software update
the unlock is NOT possible till the audio head unit software update is done
Q: how to do an update?
A: only dealers can do that - no other way
Q: what software do I need
A: does not matter - dealer know how to update, and they only can update to the latest SW
Thank you for replying! Alright last part hopefully.... so I get the head unit updated through a dealer. Once I do that, do I then need to replace the USB unit and do a dongle unlock? Or what should the steps be after I get the head unit software updated?
