AMS Carbon Fiber Air Intake
Hi, I love the look of the AMS carbon fiber air intake but it is big $$$$$! Logically, the functionality of it should increase horsepower but who really know??? Anyone looking to sell their's by chance? If so please send me a message.
I just did the RENNTech R1 package to my CLS is running amazing now...much more seat of the pants feel! I would love to get a cold air intake and a full exhaust to complete my mods. If someone is interested either reply here or PM me. Thanks in advance.

LF

Came across this in a search. I had BMC Filters and a tune which resulted in about 682hp. I then had the AMS intake installed and had the car re-tuned. The net increase was only 2-3hp... Looks badass though

Wow, that's discouraging . The concept of why it would make more HP makes sense to me and of course they advertise much more gains then that. I ended up using spacers to lift the filter higher on the stock airbox as I read it nets almost the same gains. Guess I will not bother with the AMS cold air intake then. Does look badass no question but for $4K... no way! Thanks for the message back!

I know its an old thread but we have a great set up that has proven to be very good on my 12E63 with downpipes and raceIq tune stage 2 if interested or need more info let me know.
here is my dyno before and after and hood closed with new intakes.
And yes hood closed during blackboost pulls
M157 Blackboost filter installed

Wow, those look very cool! Any check engine lights? I had the VRP spacer kit installed to raise the stock filters out of the intake and I ended up getting a CEL that coded out for PCV problem but the star diagnostic tool kept showing a picture of the airbox when saying how to fix the problem. my tech put it back to stock and we are just waiting to see if the CEL comes on again. He honestly is not sure how the airbox would trigger the code so it is just a trial and error at this point. Might be the PCV valve/oil separator but my tech told me those rarely go bad on such a low mileage car as mine. To me this set up would be way worse for a leak then just the spacer kit that I had so I am wondering if you ever get a CEL? How much was the kit and where did you order it? Thanks in advance.

No it should not be a problem, no tune required for running intakes and there's other members runing diverted valves with intake an do issues with them.

I will attach another write up and review of intakes by @brutus_tx he has uploaded a video explaining intake noise. I highly recommend reading the thread lots of good data and info uploaded by a great enthusiast. https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...ck-intake.html
