have the same issue with my 2013 CLS63 i have replaced the engine wiring harness, the intake manifold air pressure/temp sensors, performed every software update and recoding of every control module possible still no improvement. Next step i am replacing the M.E. ( engine control moudle) i will let you know how that goes. i had oil intrustion from can solenoids and hall senors into my wiring harness from an internal leak but it seemed only to be in my harness. so replacing the M.E. is a stab in the dark after all the money spent. My car does not trigger any codes and all adaptations are in specs which leads me to believe the main control unit has to be fooling all the others

Hi, sorry i havent posted in awhile,
as the others have mentioned the conclusion came down to the torque converter needing to be replaced, in my case i had 2 issues which was that i had an oil leak under the intake manifold which wouldve contributed to the surging issue i had and then the torque converter needing to be replaced to fix the weird transmission issue, i would suggest scanning tcu to check for any codes as in my case there was a code with the solenoid
however i am still unsure if its 100% fixed, there are times where it doesnt feel 100% but then again i have lived with this for about 2 years so i could just be paranoid. i only got my car back within this month so im still testing it out but after a new torque converter absolute night and day difference.
