Looking to buy a CLS63 AMG

Hello everyone. I'm sure this questions been asked before but couldn't find many threads about whether or not anyone had any regrets going with a CLS550 or another CLS model vs their CLS63 AMG.

I am looking to purchase a CLS 2014 - 2016 year model CLS to add to my Mercedes collection. It's been one of my favorite looking Mercedes ever, and driving my buddies CLS550 I fell in love with it. I currently have a GT63, W213 E300, an S Class and want to add the CLS as well. The S Class and GT have been reliable with no issues far (other than my S Class leaking oil through my wiring harness and destroying my ECU) but my E300 has been very problematic. I wish I bought the E53 or E63 instead, but wanted something more economical so went with the 2.0 Liter piece of junk.

That being said, my question is, has anyone have had any serious issues with their CLS 63? Should I buy a lower tiered CLS like the 550 instead like with my E Class?

I've heard the M157 late model engines are pretty reliable. But was wondering if I should be looking forward to any expensive repairs.

The CLS i'm looking to buy is around the 2014-2016 MY with around 50,000-80,000 miles.

I do all the work my self on all my cars, even disassembled and re-assembled my M274 E class engine to replace internal parts, so i'm pretty handy when it comes to DIY. But I do not want to disassemble a 6.2 liter V8 anytime soon lol

Any feedback/input is appreciated!

2012 W218 CLS 63 AMG
I have a 2012 CLS 63 AMG with 39,000 miles. My car has been absolutely perfect. For these cars or any other cars with airmatic, there can be problems with the compressor or struts. My first W219 CLS 500 had a strut blow up when I was driving. At 50,000-80,000 miles, I think you should be fine but I would pay attention to them. Regarding engines, I've heard of the M278 in the CLS 550 having even more problems than the M157 in the CLS 63. I've heard of timing chain issues and cylinder scoring, but they aren't insanely common. Here are some links I found regarding M157 problems.
