Finally tuned my 7G Transmission Review & Conclusion.
Recently I lost a race to 2019 M5 F90 Comp (VIDDO ATTACHED) running Intake, downpipe, 93 tune. I was under impression that the reason could be because of my stock transmission. It felt like it was nerfed. I have heard people talk about TCU tune but I genuinely didn’t think it could make THAT much difference… but i would be proven wrong.
TCU tunes are upwards of $1,750 dollars, could be higher than $2,000 by couple tuning shop. That price for a little performance wasn’t worth the cost. So after doing a little more research, I found XStages (reputable tuner from UAE) to offer the most competitive price of $1150, so I decided to pull the trigger.
Holy. Moly.
This was not what I expected!
My CLS is now putting down all the power that my tuner Jerry blessed me with. I attached a follow up video with XStages TCU tune with the same F90.
Granted gears 1,2 are nerfed because you do not want to push too much torque in such short gear as you could snap an output shaft. Does not make any sense why gears 3-7 torque limits are so low. I have slightly raised my 1-2 gears and raised my 3-7 to put all available torque down. the TCU tune also got rid of the gears 1-2 car shake that you get when you baby step the pedal as the gears microslip.
In conclusion, if you are only ECU tuned and want to actually use 100% of what your tuner has mapped for you, please pair it with a TCU. Feel free to use whichever tuner to do your TCU, but i highly recommend XStages, as it only required a $18 device (Tactrix openport 2.0) that i purchased on aliexpress.
$1150 was also VERY reasonable for the amount of performance I received.I give my flowers 🌹 to Salem from Xstages, he is a splendid individual.
