Performance Package 030

I've just confirmed thru my dealer that it should be on thier list of options in a couple days. He was able to do a conference call with the head of product development(he was in the US on a business trip). That person pretty much said that its what they have for the SL65. I got a verbal confirmation of the list of features that someone had already posted on this website.
I have a build slot already that should be delivered mid August my deadline for changes is May 25th so hopefully the build won't need to be pushed back.

Ordered CLS55 Granite Grey/Charcoal
Lighting package
Premium Package
Keyless
Performance package

Anyone know if you can get the 030 package options separately, like if someone just wants the better brakes & LSD?

Don't know about seperately

I'm sure you can get anything you want over in Europe ... but it seems that they are EXTREMELY limited out here in the US.

My guess is that for the US you can only get the package or nothing.

I guess I would have to see the Alcantara steering wheel in person before placing an order for this 030 package. Is it just me or does it seem rather strange to put that material on the steering wheel instead of real leather?

Well, I don't think that's too bad, especially in warm areas - steering-wheel "sucks-up" the sweat from your fingers! :p

I have already seen some other aftermarket-solutions at different makes that use this kind of material....

030 package released to dealers yesterday

So go ask your dealers. They definitely should know by now.

Well, I just had an interesting phone-conversation with MB USA. The rep. checked the system and found a new order code but he couldn't confirm any details. He put me on hold to ask his supervisor. After a few seconds he told me "well, it's half confirmed , not officially yet and no prices so far.." I also asked him when to expect the designo-packages and if we will see them at all. He told me that the reason they are not available yet is that it's a new model so it takes a little while (same situation with new M-Class), but it is very likely we will get designo because it's available for every model in this price-category so far, so why should CLS be different (sounds logic to me.. :p )?

My feeling was that he and his supervisor knew that it will be available but I'm sure they wanted to keep their secret (though it's no secret any more :p ) for a little while.

I'm so happy we will get this package:

1. The sales-manager was so arrogant when I showed him the print-out with all the details from the E-class forum. He took his pen and marked the word "rumour", just like a teacher talking to a small child. I told him that the option has already been confirmed by several dealerships. My advice to him:
STAY UP TO DATE IF YOU WANT TO BE A SUCCESFUL DEALER

2. Last but not least - it's a great package!

Its comforting to know that the package exists. I just called my dealer (Laguna Niguel) and they too confirmed it. They could just not find an exact price for the option though. Regardless of price, this is a must option before anything else on my purchase of the CLS.

Dropped in at my dealer yesterday - the 030 option is on the build sheet for my new CLS - just no pricing yet - I have ordered mine with the 030 option hoping that its under the $10K threshold I set myself

Will certainly be talking to the AMG boys tomorrow and Saturday at Homestead at the AMG challenge

Looking forward to meeting many of the group members there

lol - and just in case anyone is interested, Siswati is the race / language of the Siswati tribe who originate from Swaziland where I grew up - in fact there are only 1million people in Swaziland, very few white (less than 1000) and a lot more Indian. Swaziland is encapsulated by South Africa and Mocambique. Siswati language is very similar to Zulu (isiZulu) - one of the 16 offical languages of South Africa. There is a large and propserous Indian population in South Africa

anyway

I guess I'm lucky I'm living in the Tampa-area. No dealer over here would have such a crazy idea to request a price over MSRP on a car you ordered. I haven't seen any prices above MSRP in my area at all and as long as there are dealers in this country who offer MSRP or even a rebate, I would never pay a penny more than MSRP

Before I would spend thousands above MSRP I would book a first-class flight to Tampa, a first-class hotel, go to a dealership, order my dreamcar at or BELOW MSRP and spend a day at the beach. That would be more fun than spending $25K above MSRP

BTW, MSRP means:

Maximum
Seller's
Ripp-off
Price

NEVER PAY MORE THAN THAT!!! :p

Guys and gals...if you are so upset at their pricing policy, instead of whining about how a stealership does business, make them spin their wheels and go through a ton of paperwork as if you were going to actually buy a car and then inconvenience them by cancelling it and telling them why.

Now that is some semblance of revenge and making a statement.

Dude....nice try. How about the non-refundable deposit? They will still make money off of you.

It still amazes me that people out there will pay over MSRP! I guess you guys have *****ty dealers. I only bought three cars from my dealer and he was more than willing to get me a CLS 55 for MSRP. I feel sorry for people who "can't wait" to have this car.

Question Non-Refundable Deposit?

Here in So. Cal. deposits are refundable. On a non-refundable deposit, have you signed an agreement that states that the deposit is non-refundable? Personally, I think any Dealer would be hard pressed if they were challenged legally on the Non-refundable issue. - Bob
